Take away the dazzling special effects and the young hot actors and noone would give a **** about it. Same as 90% of all the spinoffs and knockoffs coming out today.

I liked the movie! As far as I know, it was the director's intention was to make a movie that would appeal to all, Star Trek fan or no. For me, it didn't top Watchmen as this year's cinematic experience so far, but it was still thoroughly enjoyable. I actually didn't expect much, so I was pleasantly surprised

Im sorry tore, but Watchmen was terrible. I couldnt make it past halfway it was so boring. Talking about ruining an old comic.

I've read the comic myself (first read it well over 10 years ago now) and it seems logical to me that if you thought the movie was boring, you should think so about the comic too I didn't think it ruined anything .. I even preferred the movie's ending to that of the comic.

Watchmen was not boring.

I can't justify seeing a Star Trek Movie w/o William Shatner. I'll just stay home and watch Boston Legal reruns in protest.

**SPOILER WARNING**

I was waiting for Shatner's appearance which didn't come. I didn't know it at the time I saw the movie, but it seems Captain Kirk died in the Star Trak Generations film meaning he wasn't alive when Spock travelled backwards in time. Even if Shatner wasn't included, at least Nimoy's part to me was highly satisfying.

Yeah seeing Nimoy (big fan) as Spock again was great.

I believe J.J Abrams captured the young characters perfectly, and I think the casting was just great. Everybody was simply a younger, less mature, version of themselves. Kirk was a rebel whose always getting into trouble (which totally sounds like a young Kirk), he was also hitting on green women. It had plently of great humor and action and I don't think the special FX took away from it at all.

Sorry RezZ :P

I concur. The casting was perfect and I believe the plot did have substance. Was it brain-bending or super intellectual? No, but still interesting.

I think they did a great job of producing something to keep fans mostly happy while drawing in a new crowd. I'm going to go see it again (for a third time) before it leaves the theatre.

The casting seemed to almost be a joke, the new trend of adding stupid wisecracks was continued from beginning to end. Basically this movie was all about flash and like most modern movies lacked severely in the storyline department. Now I have seen nearly every, if not all episodes of every Star Trek and boy was I dissapionted.
Sorry, but you just sound bitter. It may not have been what you were hoping for but it was damn good movie with plenty of substance for something as entertaining as it was.
