The names that keep popping in my head are Sidney Lumet and John Cassavetes -and I'm blocking on these two. :/

^No, it's neither of them. His pregnant wife, an actress, was murdered in the 60s by members of a famous cult. By a strange coincidence, a year earlier he had a film involving a pregnant woman and satanism. Now, he's in headlines for an old case when he was charged for raping a 13 year old girl (that happened in the 70s). He's of Polish origin and a brilliant director, but unfortunately a pedophile.
