Guess the movie

I was pretty surprised that this thread had never existed. It is usually my favorite thread in any forum.

I didn't know if I had to put it here or in the Game section, but here seems more adequate. Cause it's for movie buffs.

Anyway, the rules of the game: Someone puts a picture of a scene from a movie, and the next has to guess from which movie is the picture. And so on...

Example:

I put this picture:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...res_johnny.jpg

and the next one guesses that its from The Shining. etc.

NumberNineDream 09-19-2009 06:37 PM

Here's an easy one now, that was on the top of my mind [cause I really can't think].

^^^

The shining!

Awesome set piece but few would guess. The mods maybe can due to being able to view the URL.

Well all one would have to do is right click the picture and view properties... the URL for the picture is listed.

But I doubt anyone here would go through all the trouble to hunt something like that down right?

right?...

NewTurk12 09-26-2009 02:01 PM

Wow, I see that I really haven't seen as movies as I thought I had.. I don't recognize a lot of the movies posted about

I think it's time we (or just I) revive this thing.

Guess the movie:

It's Marcello Mastroianni I think but unsure what film :(

NumberNineDream 06-11-2010 06:13 PM

^This is one of the pictures sometimes used in the poster of the movie.

dankrsta 06-12-2010 10:34 AM

This is a great idea for a thread. I'm not sure about Marcello Mastroianni picture. I've seen a couple of his films, but a long time ago. But the one above is from Blue Velvet.

Next
http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/5494/1342g.jpg

Or do I have to guess the Marcello Mastroianni film first before I post the new picture. What are the rules exactly?
EDIT: Dolce Vita maybe? That's the film I remember the most, but that's not saying much.

NumberNineDream 06-12-2010 02:11 PM

^ That is the one. The last scene of the movie. As Fellini's most popular movie, I wonder why people never are familiar with the shots.
And right on Blue Velvet.

Yours is Tarkovsky's Stalker.

Guess:

http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/7492/blahv.jpg

Edit: As for the rules. If you're sure about the movie just post another to guess. If not, wait for the guess to be corrected. In case of "losing hope", the one that suggested the pic might add some hints.

dankrsta 06-12-2010 04:53 PM

Correct on Stalker, of course.

As for your picture, Ryan O'Neil and Tatum - Paper Moon?

NumberNineDream 06-12-2010 04:55 PM

^Indeedy :D

HOLY MOUNTAIN! by Alejandro Jodorowsky

Another favourite of mine:

dankrsta 06-12-2010 05:49 PM

Yes for Holy Mountain. Of course you're gonna guess everything. You're into movies, as I understood.

As for your new picture - It looks familiar, but I have no idea. I probably haven't seen the film.

NumberNineDream 06-12-2010 05:54 PM

Another picture from the same movie. The one I was planning to upload in the first place:

The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover. Brilliant film. The colours in that film are superb, as are the costumes.

Considering the debauchery on screen there is only one true swear word uttered on film.

Helen Mirren..Miaooww.

Good man and now the daddy of British working mans films who influenced Shane Meadows and still does, made the second film. I firmly advise you to watch his films.

I've heard of the director (won't say his name in case it spoils the game) but I didn't know where to stand. I was on Wiki and I found myself flutter away from it. I've been watching some Mike Leigh recently though, seen 2 or 3 of his films. Shane Meadows is doing something great at the moment, some of his films have been spot on. I wonder what his next project is.

There is a director who treads that middle ground. Is over 70, supports Man U (the idiot) and has never ever compromised his working class roots. Probably the best British director living yet still unknown :(

The fact he's a United fan makes him much more appealing. :D I should see one of his films, since I'm always looking for something different than America films, even though they're great when you find a great British film it's great. Do you think he's so unknown because not everybody can relate to his work? Or is it a lack of exposure? Or just one of them things that can't really be explained?

Europe loves him if that helps. His films never waiver from his views and he has turned down tons of money just so he can make films on his terms. He has made stars of Ricky Tomlinson. Robert Carlyle, Crissy Rock. Bump started Ray Winstones Career and worked with Eric Cantona..

Mike leigh is awesome but a theatre director in disguise. The greatest living director in the UK is Ken Loach.

U may have done English at school with a book called Kes as a part of the curriculum. He directed the film.
