I'm waiting on my games, hopefully I actually get the PS3.
And I won't tell you I'm not going, I just have to figure out when exactly I'll BE going.
Hopefully next year, first semester.

Anyways, anyone got any new decent PS3 games that isn't Call of Duty: MW2, or the like?

You might enjoy Uncharted 2 or the new Ratchet & Clank

Captain Awesome 12-15-2009 01:07 PM

Uncharted 2 is epic if you're into that kind of game. Story (for me) is highly entertaining and could have easily been a movie. Gameplay is strong and the graphics are yet to be matched by any game on any console, just beautiful.

Depends what kind of games you're into i suppose.

FETCHER. 12-15-2009 02:56 PM

I'll read up on them and see what type of games they are. Thanks guys! :)

Dragon Age:Origins is well worth playing if you like medieval fantasy.

fallout 3 is probably the best rpg on the ps3.

If you want to try an action game, get Batman: Arkham Asylum. I haven't played it on PS3 (only PC), but I believe there's a PS3 exclusive where you get to play as the Joker, which I think would be pretty awesome.

Also RPG-wise it really depends what you're into. Dragon Age: Origins is really Dungeons And Dragons for the screen, however it's still epic. Oblivion is kind of less of a conventional RPG, and it's a bit more combat oriented (that is, there's going to be a lot of running around and such, instead of the slow tactical combat of Dragon Age.) Sci-Fi wise, Fallout 3 and Mass Effect are both options. I've never played Mass Effect but I can say that Fallout 3 is completely awesome (and made by the same people who did Oblivion).

And I don't know if you like shooters, but I recently got Borderlands and I can attest to it's fun and addictiveness... so you might want to try that out. There's also Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which I haven't played because I'm not really a huge CoD fan but you might like it.

Phew.... glad there's a place to let out my nerd.

LoathsomePete 12-15-2009 06:40 PM

Mass Effect is only for Xbox 360 and PC boyo ;)

Anyways Kayleigh I'm not super familiar with the PS3 titles, but definitely give Little Big Planet a go, puzzle platforming adventure with Stephen Fry doing the voice of the narrator.

Oops.... I actually know nothing about PS3, but I just assume super famous game like that are for all platforms:p:

That's actually kind of strange though isn't it? Is there a reason for it not being on PS3?

Arya Stark 12-15-2009 06:51 PM

I've heard Little Big Planet is amazing.
I asked for it as an X-Mas gift

not knowing her preferences i went with the more casual game. Oblivion is a great fantasy rpg, but it's definitely geared towards the more hardcore rpg fan. DA:O doesn't require as much commitment from the player.

Fallout3 is pretty awesome until about the time you meet the President and leave the Enclave. then the rails get tighter and you're basically just toeing a line until you choose to be a martyr or a murderer. the eventual DNC addresses some of the heavy handedness of the original ending but that wasn't an option when i played so i was left with a bad taste in my mouth when i finished it.

All consoles have their own exclusive titles to entice people to purchase them. Almost all of them are series', but some are just the odd title here and there. Exclusive titles are slowly becoming a thing of the past (except for Nintendo which pretty much makes all their income off their exclusive series'), but you'll find the odd one here and there.

That game is something else. I'd say it was only for group play though, it gets boring when you don't have another person to share the fun with. I love it to absolute pieces though.

Alfred 12-15-2009 07:03 PM

Flower is my favorite downloadable game. And obviously Zuma is a very addictive puzzle game.

I love Flower and Flow. They're both super relaxing and perfect for those days where you want your Ps3 to entertain you with as little effort form yourself as possible.

So how about the new Xbox design that's apparently trying to look like a Wii? Or has this already been discussed?

well... considering how easy it is to find out the 5 Ws about anything Microsoft has 'borrowed' from in the past and most people are at a loss at presenting any original innovation they've brought to the table... yeah....

considering what they did with the xbox live avatars that didn't at all resemble Nintendo's Miis it's hardly a surprise.

odd that they'd make the machine slimmer though, considering the red rings of death were caused by heat issues due to the internal design of the original device that didn't have enough proper space for its components.

abdullah424 12-16-2009 01:21 AM

I haven't seen a picture yet but I kind of wish they stuck with this one.

too similar too gamecube and therefore older looking hehe

but i prefer it too.

as for the slim this is what i got off google.

abdullah424 12-16-2009 01:45 AM

Why is everybody so fascinated with streamlining consoles now? I'll admit I actually like the way the Ps3 slim looks aside from the finish but that's just a grey dvd player.

I still miss the original xbox design even though it was a huge brick and you couldn't stack anything on top of it because of the logo.

If it's good old 2D platforming then that's enough to grab my attention. :)

My mom is getting a PS3 for christmas, I should give her that game, it's something the whole family should enjoy.

Absolutely, I kid you not. My male friends enjoy it more than me at times! It's definetly ideal for her then.

FETCHER. 12-29-2009 09:34 AM

So boo boo, I forgot all about the Little Big Planet thing you were goin to get your mum, did you get her it? Does she like it :D?

Arya Stark 12-29-2009 11:42 AM

I still have to playyy thatttt!

FETCHER. 12-29-2009 11:46 AM

You have no idea what you're missing. It's probably my favourite multiplayer game!

Arya Stark 12-29-2009 11:49 AM

Really? :3
Well my friend got it so I'll play with her when i go over.

midnight rain 12-29-2009 01:58 PM

I used to be a PS2 owner but when these two consoles came out, Xbox 360 was something like $200 cheaper so I went with it and haven't looked back. I honestly can't fairly say which is better because I haven't played the PS3 but I will say that free online is not a factor because I don't really play games online anyways. I do own a PSP though, so Sony is still represented in a way.

Arya Stark 12-29-2009 02:19 PM

Is the PSP worth it in your opinion?

midnight rain 12-29-2009 04:08 PM

I couldn't say, I just got it for Christmas and already figured out that I have to buy a memory card separately to save anything. Messing around in Grand Theft Auto: China Wars is hella fun though

Arya Stark 12-29-2009 04:20 PM

Nicee.
I never had any intention of buying it, I'm not sure. xD

It's really just a luxury if you own a console, good for car trips I suppose.

FETCHER. 12-29-2009 04:34 PM

Yeah, I don't think I would own a PSP unless I travelled alot, same with a DS. I wouldn't have much time for them otherwise!

Arya Stark 12-29-2009 04:34 PM

I love my DS, though.

FETCHER. 12-29-2009 04:36 PM

See I've never owned one. I did have a gameboy at one point, and I got over the novelty of it within a week or so. So I guess a DS/PSP never appealed to me when they came out. I get fed up with things too easily.

Hehe. Yeah.
I like the cute games on DS more, anyway.
I like serious games to have better quality.
So I'm waiting for my PS3.

FETCHER. 12-29-2009 05:48 PM

Yeah that may be so, but PS3 offers the exact same service for £0/$0.

Arya Stark 12-29-2009 05:49 PM

Whatever they just sa got deleted. xD

Theres really not much point. GTA might actually be the only reason id even consider one but thats not worth the money. I borrowed a friends and messed around on one of the Metal Gear's and a few other games, transferred some PS1 classics onto his memory card which is a feature i do like by the way, but got pretty bored quickly.

I have a DS and it's much better, in my opinion.

Alfred 12-30-2009 10:56 AM

The only reason I would want a PSP is the novelty of syncing it with your PS3. I like that you can use PSone Classics on both systems, so I'd probably take FFVII on the go with me.

Game-wise though, the system is pretty lacking compared to the DS.
