Just picked this up in HB for a mighty quid. Looks like it will be worth a read.

Latest book purchase

I always get new books, and wonder where to post about them. Most post them in the lounge thread "Last bought", but that doesn't allow much discussions. So finally I thought, books do need a thread, cause usually books that are purchased are not directly read. So posting them in the "what are you reading thread" seems irrelevant.

So my latest bought:

Noticing the love for Terry Pratchett on the boards, I needed to start somewhere:

I felt that a book written by Dostoevsky, in less than 2000 pages, must be bought:

** If you (as in the mods) feel this thread is useless and redundant, you can close it.

About to get started on this, looks really interesting.

^ It is one great book, but it can take a part of your spirit when reading it. I got depressed every time I read more than 5 pages at a time. Which makes it one of the greatest books ever written imo.

Melissa. I didn't mean to hijack your thread- sorry! I just copied my post from yesterday as it was a new book purchase but it has become the first post due to the original time it was posted :(

lol no worries, I actually don't like to have my name as the "thread creator". As long as the thread still exists I'm happy.

Love Dostoevsky. Crime and Punishment was my first, because it was the only one of his books I could find that wasn't so intimidatingly long. Such a good novel.

^ I own that, but I'm a bit intimidated by it, I should just stop being a sissy and get to it

But I LOVE this book. I had to buy it. After the first chapter, my mind was blown.

This arrived from Amazon today... bought it mostly for the illustrations, let's hope it got some Lewis Caroll spirit.
