Who cares about short-term. They are going to take a bath because sympathies are with Conan.

From a PR standpoint, at a time of populist rage, people are clearly lining up behind Conan. People liked Jay, but no one had a passion about him. He was middle America's late night host, but middle america isn't the meat of the late night crowd. Nor do I think they particularly care.

Any other network will likely pay him what he loses, especially Fox who will pick up Conan and continue its juggernaut-roll. NBC is losing ground now as they did with Letterman. It was a train wreck then and they were considered equals. Conan and Jay are in no way considered equals.

Jay is being a huge assclown right now.

At first people thought he was gonna pass the torce down to Conan, but then he decides at the last minute "you know what, I change my mind about that how retiring thing". Talk about a cruel joke. What's the goddamn point of leaving the tonight show if you want your new show to take up the exact same time slot?

And now they want to give him The Tonight Show back? Man, if I were Conan I wouldn't tolerate that bullsh*t anymore, I'm sure a network like Fox or even ABC would be happy to get Conan.

I think it's more complex of a problem then Jay Leno being an assclown. I agree he should have retired or, at the very least done a weekly show. But he's now looking out for his camp, the producers, camera men, writers... every one involved in the making of his show who he's been with for 17 years will be out of the job if the show is just canceled. Either way, Conan or Leno, good people will be out of work.

I don't think that justifys what they're doing to Conan, however. It was the Jay Leno experiment that failed, not Conan O'Brien. Leave late night alone and deal with your primetime problems, NBC.

And I think NBC also is ignoring Conan's growing momentum. With Latterman's affair and aging loyal audience, NBC was lining up to overthrow Letterman in not just ratings but in the cult following.

Its also a terrible move because this is twice now Leno has screwed people to take that show, and if he goes to Fox or ABC, it now is two options that viewers have as an alternative to the Tonight Show.

I think The Jay Leno show was created by Jeff Zucker in part to keep Leno from moving to another network. Honestly I think he needs to be fired for that, it was a huge gamble that didn't pay off and now he's trying to blame others about it when it was his own Zuck-up.

I see this is as a blessing in disguise, as Conan will no longer have to pander to the tonight show crowd, who truly deserve the comedy stylings of Jay Leno.

I'm just hoping if he moves to fox, his show won't become super-retarded, but will be just like late night.

Why would it become "super retarded"? I'd imagine it would be his to do with whatever.

...I mean just looking at mad tv, reno 911. I could see them pressuring him to do something like the masturbating bear every single night. I could be wrong.
