i once read this amazing book review about twilight on active voice and she completely trashed it. saying how it was a dull book that in basic was some bland girls florid (yes florid) musings and poutings about a vampire who was out of her league.

she also said
"Twilight has another issue that so overshadows those already mentioned that it renders them almost negligible: It reads like a do-it-yourself guide to abusive relationships.

I’m serious. Edward is moody, violent, prone to anger, jealous, and justifies any poor behavior towards Bella with excuses like 'It’s just because I love you' and 'It’s what’s best for you.'"

Haha yes, Robert's a pretty common name. I doubt it'll die, but it'll definetly become less popular :(. Bad times!

Scissorman 02-14-2010 10:08 AM

what about the name Edward? :D

That doesn't surprise me at all to be honest. I live in a town that has a large Mormon population (the religion of the author) and whenever I've been in one of their houses I always got this feeling of female complacency. Very old fashioned, woman cooks, woman cleans, so it doesn't really surprise me that this mentality would show up in her writing. It use to make me wonder what a Mormon family was like behind closed doors, all that niceness isn't healthy and I wonder if some of things the reviewer described about Edward's mannerisms reflect what the author saw as a child.

Haha, edward died out long before Twilight, it's a posh name... :)

James 05-27-2010 07:07 AM

When I was 9 I had a hamster named Edward.

FETCHER. 05-27-2010 10:30 AM

Posh.

glastonelle 05-31-2010 01:04 AM

I am disgusted in those 3 people who chose Twilight.

No. Just no.

FETCHER. 06-01-2010 07:34 AM

I am one of those three, and I think your opinion is harsh.

Sorry, its nothing personal against you - youre great :D its just I really cant stand Twilight. Again, nothing personal.

Astronomer 06-02-2010 04:19 AM

I am offended that these two sagas are even being compared. And that the Harry Potter and Twilight 'freaks' were deemed similar! it's a whole different generation of people...

FETCHER. 06-02-2010 07:38 AM

I agree they can't be comparable, they're both very different, harry potter is very well written and such. I don't like it though, so what use is it to me? Whereas twilight is "badly" written (who concluded this?) but it has something I and alot of people like. And no I don't like it because of sparkly little edward cullen I just like it iin general, yes they are averagely hot and jacob has a body to die for, but thats not why I like it. I read the books and didn't know what they looked like... I used my imagination.

AleG 06-02-2010 11:07 AM

Sorcery doesn't sound as cool as vampirism...

Never really liked either of the two to be honest.

Scissorman 06-02-2010 12:42 PM

well, sorcery is way cooler than twilight vampirism, mostly because it has nothing to do with real vampirism

James 06-02-2010 12:57 PM

Twilight ruined Vampires.

AleG 06-02-2010 01:14 PM

Vampires are just asking for AIDS...

Lycans are cooler.

Totally agree with this. Vampires are supposed to be killer blood-sucking sex machines, not wussy teenage hearthrobs that sparkle in the sun.

Seconded  Phwooar, hes tres sexy.

I liked the books when I first read them because it was a craze, but that was it. I tried reading them again but Bella was a bit too pathetic and Edward was just being himself, and the was enough to make me stop liking them.

I spent much of my childhood waiting for the next Harry Potter installment to come out. I haven't encountered any twilightness as of yet, but I can't imagine it coming anywhere near the Harry Potter series, at least as far as the books go.

He's my age, but he sounds too much like a girl when he talks so I took him off my Most Shaggable List. Hard decison, but necessary ;)

How much older are you than him? If you dont mind me asking.

FETCHER. 06-04-2010 05:14 AM

I'm 19 in september, he's 19 next febuary. Not much in it haha. He will be banned from speaking in my company. And mandatory shirtless around me.

glastonelle 06-04-2010 06:33 PM

I couldnt of put it better myself :D

mohtaref 06-17-2010 08:34 AM

twilight is great but it can't be compared to harry potter :D

Nadia 06-17-2010 01:57 PM

No competition!
If you look through twilight there is a mistake on about every other page, Edward is ridiculously irritating and Bella is a useless excuse for a protagonist.

tomjstn7 06-22-2010 01:25 PM

It is weird that anyone would defend Harry Potter based on the films. The first two were terrible, the third is quite good, didn't see four or five, the sixth was decent. But Harry Potter is all about the books, and the early books were great children's books. Anyway, I haven't read Twilight but I'm willing to bet that it will be dead and buried long before people forget about Harry Potter.

FETCHER. 06-27-2010 10:04 AM

Its soooo sooooonnnnn :D:D:D:D

thomasracer56 06-27-2010 09:02 PM

don't care that much, but harry potter way better.

bannister 06-28-2010 04:12 PM

I have a tendency to hate things that I think are overrated, and Twilight is one of them. HP might've been included if it wasn't a major part of my childhood and was geared towards a stereotypical "female" audience.

But all in all, my hatred of Twilight comes down to the fact that I hate romance novels, and that's basically what Twilight is. And more than a few parts of Edward and Bella's relationship disturb me. Breaking into your house and watching you sleep? Taking parts from your car so you can't go anywhere?

Why does no one else find those creepy and not sweet and protective?

Zed 06-28-2010 05:12 PM

Gotta agree with the first post ( movies suck, potter book ok).
And I just gotta ask... How in the bloody hell can they have sex? I mean.. Vampires are supposed to be undead right? So.. that means no blood circulation = no boner. Poor girl.

That is the best thing I've heard all day.

FETCHER. 06-28-2010 05:25 PM

its a fiction story, not a science novel mate ;):D

What does everybody think of the Harry Potter trailer? I'm totally psyched... looks epic. Already hanging out to buy tickets to the midnight launch!

Haha... I'm ashamed to admit I've already seen it! One of my friends paid for me to go with her... :shycouch:

FETCHER. 07-10-2010 06:28 AM

Be honest, to me anyway. Did you find it what most anti-twilight people would consider "okay" or did you think it was shite?
