That's because you live in one of the least religious states in the country. Trust me on this one, I used to feel the same as you before I moved out of state.

With regards to Carlin: For a long time I too used to think he was unfunny and overrated and that people only liked him because they thought they were supposed to, but then a couple years ago I happened to catch one of his specials from the 80s on TV and holy shit did I laugh my ass off.

I don't understand the Dane Cook hate. He's not the funniest I've ever seen but I thought he was perfectly funny and apparently so did everybody else until he blew up. So maybe he's more about delivery then writing, who cares? Lots of comedians are that way. I think he just got too popular with the wrong kind of crowd (young teens) and that soiled his reputation.

My issue with him is simply that he doesn't make me laugh, not even a little bit.

I also don't really like him because he's incredibly arrogant for a guy who's starred in so many crappy films.

Dane Cook's appeal is in his delivery. Immature adolescents or popped collar frat boys seem to really dig it.

Well I'm being Biased because I can relate to George Lopez humor the most!
The first time I saw his stand-up, It made me cry..literally...and laugh of course
but he captured so much of the realities of the Mexican-American culture growing up and living life
..and knowing it was going to be heard and maybe understood by other folkz, well made me kinda proud! So yeah.

I like all of them. I cant pick just two.
I loved Billy Crystal in the film "Analyze This" Great MOVIE.

Don't forget about Gabriel Iglesias.

Not to mention Ralphie May, both insanely funny comedians not exactly perturbed by their size.

tough one..I'd give it to Carlin just because he did it for more than 40 years and he didn't repeat his jokes at all...well maybe a little bit, but he always had something extra to cover it
