Default Gangster/Mobster/Mafia movies

Need some ideas, I've already seen the big ones. Goodfellas, The Godfather, Miller's Crossing, American Gangster, Scarface and things like Once upon a time in america. But I'm looking for more suggestions.

Oh and I've also seen british gangster/mobster flicks like Snatch etc

I'm open to pretty much any suggestion even if it's only borderline mobster stuff as long as it has a fair bit of action in it and at least a half-decent story.

So, I take it you've seen The Departed from 2006 then? Definetly the gangster movie of the last decade for me.

You also don't mention L. A. Confidential from 1997 in your post which is another brilliant classic.

I'm guessing you may have seen these .. if you haven't, you definetly should.

I've seen the departed, awesome movie. I never realised LA confidential had anything to do with gangsters/mob/mafia etc. To be honest I'm not sure what I thought it was lol, I'll check it out.

Thanks for the suggestion.

L.A. Confidential is one of the greatest movies of the 90's AND one of the best "Best Picture" Oscar winners I have ever seen. It tells the story of individual L.A.P.D cops(Kevin Spacey, Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce)in a time when the department was notoriously corrupt. Very, VERY accurate film in terms of production/set design.

I say its gansta because of the overall corruption in the movie. Don't let the movie's cover fool you like I did. Its a must see!

Nice post, crabblion

As Awesome writes, it's more about corrupt cops, but it's got quite a few gangsters in it and a kind of gangster movie feel, so I think it should qualify!

Since we've mentioned the 90s and a gangster film with Kevin Spacey in it, I should of course also mention the brilliant "The Usual Suspects". Again, I'm guessing you have seen it because most people have, but if it turns out you haven't, well .. You should and I'm sure others can also vouch for this one!

It's a bit hard to summarize the plot, so I won't, but if you haven't seen it and think you might like to, I advise you not to read up on the movie first. It's very good when you don't know what's going to happen.

Does Pulp Fiction count? Or Reservoir Dogs for that matter?
