I always felt FC (the film) a bit overrated. Maybe because I read the book first, which was written marvellously. Plus I always felt that AB was on a league of its own.

Fight Club. I love the actors, the director, the storyline, pretty much every thing about it.

AB was a great movie, but not close to Fight Club.

that really funny because i fell in love with Chuck Palahniuk after seeing Fight Club....immediately i read both Invisible Monsters and Survivor (and still they are up there for amazing books in my opinion) and then went to sit down and read Fight Club (while waiting for Choke's release)...but i could not read it...the character that David Fincher created were so burned in my head i just could not get those voices out of of it....which ruined my reading experience....i've spoken with a few lucky people who read the book first and all of them basically say what you say.....

*side note i could not stand Choke....all of the characters save the "Doctor" at the hospital were well off the way i perceived them

really tough choice, but american beauty edges it slightly for me.

Fight Club is good, but overrated imo, and suffers from sixth sense syndrome. Too reliant on that plot twist. American Beauty holds together better as a film.

The film builds a good atmosphere. Good, but not excellent. And the plot twist is dealt with in such an explosive way it kind of ends up defining the film for most people...I think it's executed much better in the novel.

^I watched the last 5 minutes of the film by mistake once, which ruined the twist to me badly, and I still enjoyed the book immensely and then the film. So I don't think it's built on the twist at all.

Liked both, but the fact that I can hardly remember anything from American Beauty (and I watched it this year) must mean something.
