Well, he was Irish. They couldn't get rid of every stereotype...

Aye!

To be honest I am a little disappointed we didn't see him in more action, y'know, killing people, he probably had the best military training out of any of the other henchmen there except Richard. I liked him because he was invovled in the same war as my great Grandfather, and around the same age as him(17 during the war) and he was on the same side as Eoin during the Civil War. I wish they had developed his character a bit more.

True, considering Nucky barely had a crew to speak of anyway. I thought he was great when he first turned up but his whole storyline just seemed to get a bit stale. Yeah I can see why that would have been interesting. I have some Northern Irish roots, my brother served in the British Army over there in the 90s while my mum's cousin was still apparently a member of the IRA. Pretty safe to say it's a divisive topic.

But back on topic, I guess they only really wanted the Americanised version of the romantic Irish rebel and weren't too fussed about Irish politics as a whole. Still, I did think they might have carted him and Maggie back to Ireland for some lovin and then have their own little story, with Nucky turning up on their door somewhere down the line...

I've always watched Boardwalk Empire, but season 5 is insanely awesome.

"This is where hope comes to get fucked in the ass"

That line right there actually managed to sound classy in the Devil You Know episode. But apart from that, the peeks into Nucky's childhood and earlier years is very well done and adds a lot. And I don't think they could have cast a better young-man-nucky.
