Will Ferrel's done some awful stuff, but I've never seen an Adam Sandler movie even remotely as funny as Anchorman.

Can't say I agree bro. Kevin James, David Spade, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler are all definitely not funny. Well Sandler was in the 90s but that's another story.

I despised Anchorman. Didn't find it the slightest bit funny.

The only Adam Sandler movie I've ever mildly enjoyed was Happy Gilmore. The rest of his films offended my sense of humour as a child, and as an adult, I don't bother.

Now that I think about it though, I don't much like comedic funnymen in films. I prefer comedies where actors from other genres play comedic roles.

If you edited Anchorman down to include only all of the Steve Carell lines it would be the funniest movie ever. I did find the movie as a whole to be a little more than slightly funny...but not much more.

True, it was Will Ferrell's typical over the top acting that turned me off. I honestly haven't seen it since it first came out so would be interesting to see if my opinion of it has changed.

Carell is an absolute genius, though. Office for example, he shines. Anchorman was abysmal, I thought, and the only thing Ferrell has done remotely noteworthy is Step Brothers(for what it is), and a few SNL skits. Everything else he's done has been garbage.

Terence Hill, as recently confirmed during an interview to an Italian TV talk-show, was offered the role but rejected it because he considered it "too violent". Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.
Al Pacino = God
