Jurassic Park. I was obsessed with dinosaurs for a while as a kid and my mum brought myself and my big sister along to see this. I really enjoyed it at the time and when it was released on video our copy was quite literally played to death. Haven't seen the film in years now.

ThePhanastasio 11-09-2011 04:20 AM

I've been told that it was "The Little Mermaid", but I don't remember the experience at all. Probably because I was two.

Ska Lagos Jew Sun Ra 11-09-2011 09:16 AM

Probably Bambi or Fantasia. The former I couldn't give two ****s about, the latter I wouldn't appreciate for 15 years.

Now that I have been reminded of it... It's quite an epic film.

These two were definitely in my first 5 movies in theaters, but I'm all but certain it was The Land Before Time (1988), which first came out in the year of my birth, but was being reshown in a theater in like... 1992 or something. I remember in '93 me being taken by my mum to see Jurassic Park because I loved the dinosaurs so much. I'm also sure I saw Aladdin in theaters, but it's entirely possible I saw it on VHS. I know I saw the on-ice show at some point and I remember playing the game on Sega Genesis at my day care. In any case it's definitely among my first movies I remember seeing.

Howard the Duck 11-11-2011 08:08 AM

The first film I have a definite memory of seeing is Apollo 13, in '95. That said, there's a fairly high chance that there were at least a few before then - my memories of my youth are a bit patchy!

aadilthakur90 12-12-2011 12:41 AM

My mom says the first movie I ever saw in the theatres was The Lion King. That was in 1994 and I don't remember seeing it in the theatre as I was only 4 years old.

Heh. I remember when The Lion King came out. I worked at a movie theater at the time and no movie during my entire tenure there resulted in consistently more trash on the floor than that one. A lot of the time we weren't even able to finish cleaning before they had to start seating for the next show. To this day, whenever I hear that Elton John song, I have vivid flashbacks to sweeping up popcorn and candy.

Howard the Duck 01-16-2012 10:38 PM

when i went to see The Lion King, the entire cinema was like a kindergarten

James 01-23-2012 10:34 AM

Pretty sure mines was A Bug's Life. Good times.

duga 01-23-2012 10:45 AM

The first movie I can really remember watching is Aladdin...but I feel like I may have been to movies before that considering I remember feeling like going to the movies was a normal thing.

Edit: Scratch that...I just checked and Hook came out a year before Aladdin. So maybe it was that one...

klacc 01-24-2012 01:16 PM

Toy Story. Still remember it and still love it.

Frownland 01-27-2012 06:32 PM

I do not recall my first one, but the first film that I remember seeing in theatres was Dinosaur. I saw it on my third birthday and the animation blew my mind because it looked so cool.
