Picked this up recently and I'm completely hooked. I get the hype.

I'm level 16 right now but I'm starting to think that I'm focusing way too much on two-handed weapons. I'm already level 68 in it (along with level 40 in heavy armor), which is very high compared to a lot of the other battle techniques (one handed - 29, destruction - 25, archery - 20, not to mention categories like block, alteration, conjuration, etc. are pretty much non-existent).

There's already a few quests that look more or less impossible for me to beat right now and I can't help but think they'd be a lot easier if I'd loaded up on magic. Running up and hacking at really powerful enemies will probably take it's toll sooner rather than later.

Overall though, great game. I'm focusing mostly on the Dark Brotherhood right now until I can continue on at the Winterhold College (getting the staff from Labyrinthian is too difficult right now). I haven't played the main storyline in a while (currently on Aldouin's Wall).

^I think it really depends on how you want to approach the game. I know a lot of people seem to have the attitude of trying to 100% complete it within a single play. That seems kind of foolish to me, sure it can be done but I'd rather tailor a character for one particular play which then allows and affords better replayability due to still having some 'new' content for a different build.

It's rather normal and sensible for you to have really high stats in your main abilities while others are non-existent, don't sweat it. It's not like you won't be able to use magic so much as you won't be as effective with it. Another option instead of loading up on magic is to load up on potions which will provide similar effects.

I just hit level 30 with my khajiit and finished the main Thieve's Guild storyline minus one quest that I can't do until I've finished all the minor ones given by two of the members. My sneak is at 79 and with some of my enchanted armor practically makes me invisible. My next major goal is to join the Dark Brotherhood because I've read about the guantlets that are part of their armor set that do double damage when attacking from behind. Considering I already took the assassin perk, with these guantlets I can start to do 30x the damage with my Superior Elves Daggar which pretty much means I can kill anything. Oh I chose to be an Agent of Stealth at the end of the Nightingale quest so now I can turn invisible for 2 minutes once a day. Add that to my race's natural night vision ability and you have one dangerous thief/ assassin.

I was reading that Bethesda don't even have a timeline in place for PS3 and PC Dawnguard.

Eventually you will reach a point where not matter what you will literally be able to steal the clothes right off of peoples' backs. And yes with those gauntlets you become lethal. Also if you want to be invisible for more than 2 minutes per day (on top of that perk) you can create an invisibility potion. Thieves Guild is the way to go! haha

I've got a recepie for a weak invisibility potion that I think only lasts 20 seconds or so, but luckily I ran into a bonanza of Chaurus eggs while looking for a sword or something in some Dwarven ruins.

Haha nice! Just stock up on charus eggs and you can mix them with a whole plethora of items to make yourself invisible... once you play around with potion making things get really interesting!
