Is it possible that the "sequel" for this movie ends up being another prequel? That could possibly be a really cool way to release a franchise of movies, as each movie released exists on a part of a timeline that precedes the previous film...

A friend of mine said I should read the book(s) before seeing this?

Help?

I don't mean to be harsh but your friend is an idiot.

ah....what books?

this was an original screenplay based in a universe created in an original screenplay....there are novelizations of both Alien and Aliens.....and i'm sure there are hundreds of books/comics involving this universe

so anyone else upset a little about how poorly this film did?

the fact that they are already slated to release the blu ray and amazon is taking pre orders.....although i just saw an interview with Scott where he says there will be a 20 minute extended cut as well as tons of deleted scenes....including a rather long fight between Shaw and the engineer

i also hope they make a tight video game out of this somehow, i think the dudes who did the chronicles of riddick games would be a good choice.

Saw it tonight and was blown away. I don't think we're likely to get a better big budget thrill ride this year, especially not one with this much style.

Scott definitely recycled a lot of plot points from Alien, but he used them to create something with a much, much broader scope than that film.
