Ben Affleck Is Now Batman

Dude, seriously?

duga 08-26-2013 10:35 AM

Part of me is actually glad...I was worried it was going to be Joseph Gordon-Levitt which would mean it is actually a direct continuation of the Christopher Nolan trilogy. That would have really pissed me off because that series is near perfect as a trilogy and there's absolutely no need to keep going with it. Now I can at least convince myself that they aren't treading on those good stories. Ben Affleck can ruin this if he wants to, I don't care.

I was worried about Joseph being Batman just because he'd be a horrible Batman. I don't need someone who looks and sounds like he's twelve pretending to be Batman.

at least it wasnt tobey macguire lol

I kind of feel sorry for Henry Cavill, it seems like WB has such little faith in Superman as a character that they have to bring in Batman and a big movie star to try and sell his next movie.

Not really. Ben probably got signed up for it because they want him to direct as well. He's probably going to helm the Justice League movie. He's signed up to play Batman in numerous films.

Janszoon 08-26-2013 01:04 PM

Should have gone to Wilford Brimley.

In all seriousness, he's make a killer Penguin.

This story is made of nothing. Absolutely nothing.

I can't actually see JGL as Batman.

Dr_Rez 08-26-2013 03:41 PM

Im gonna go out on a limb and just say it....Ben Affleck is a mediocre actor at best...Daredevil was pretty average to bad. If you cant pull Daredevil how can you be the masked crusader?

He is however a great director, he should stick to minimal roles in movies that he directs. Not knocking the guy he has tons of talents, just not in acting.

You must be smoking something. Ben Affleck is a fantastic actor. He knows how to act. He is also a fantastic director. He is a genius but he should not be Batman but as usual people want to talk about nonsense ****. Oh well, that is life today.

I've seen Ben Affleck in several movies over the last ten years or so and I'd say he was one of the worst actors around. Christian Bale on the other hand is a proper actor.

I am not talking about that movie. I am speaking of Affleck's other movies. He is a good actor not a great one. But I do agree with you and Unknown Soldier that Christian Bale is a better actor than Affleck.

Yea maybe I undersold him a bit. The guy can act but he isnt on the level it takes to portray someone like batman or any legendary character. I am hardly impressed by the guys range. He directs extremely well however.

I bet he will surprise you once the movie comes out. They are going for an older veteran type batman and he will be able to pull it off.

You have a point there. What was the point choosing Affleck as actor. You just know Hollywood is just becoming more bull****. No wonder movies and music today get little money.

Why are they looking for a new batman anyways? Is this a new series or something or do bale just quit.

Neither were Keaton, Kilmer and Clooney but they got away with it. :dj:

Especially George Clooney. He is the type that should have never but did a very good job playing Batman.

Yeah, Bale turned down the role. Why Did Christian Bale Stop Being Batman? 'Man Of Steel 2' Cast Ben Affleck After Bale Turns Role Down : Entertainment : Latin Times

Movies are making record amounts of money. Don't know what you are talking about.

They're doing a Superman/Batman team up movie in place of the Justice League movie they were originally going to do, but it's basically a sequel to Man of Steel and has nothing to do with the Nolan movies.

Exo 08-26-2013 06:34 PM

I don't know if you lot remember, but when Heath Ledger was cast as The Joker, the internet exploded with anger. I'm not saying that Ben will be a bad Batman, but I am saying that getting angry over the casting of Batman is silly. Look how Ledger turned out besides dead.

Didn't he win Best Supporting Actor for that role, albeit posthumously?

Scarlett O'Hara 08-26-2013 09:29 PM

I like Ben Affleck in Argo, The Town, his own movies but this is such a bad move. I honestly won't bother watching it because I enjoyed/preferred Christian Bale playing the part and feel like it's been done so many times.

Janszoon 08-26-2013 09:32 PM

Plus, Ben Affleck is Daredevil. Daredevil can't be Batman, it's unpossible.

Scarlett O'Hara 08-26-2013 09:40 PM

I concur Janszoon.

Burning Down 08-26-2013 09:41 PM

I get the feeling that he might be a George Clooney type of Batman. Which isn't good.

Have I been living under a rock? I totally didn't know he did Batman. Or maybe I did but I don't remember it. Was it in the 90's?

Yeah, in Batman & Robin from 1997. It was largely forgettable for me.

Forgettable? Just look at that nipple!

I forgot the forgettable movie. I have done myself a favour.
