I mean I can understand why others like them, but I would absolutely be fine with never seeing a superhero movie again. I'm generally not a fan of action movies either and I don't really care about the "cultural morality" of those movies. I know robbing a bank is considered bad and I know stopping people that rob banks is considered good. I'm more interested as to why things occur then just someone telling me about them.

I'm a much bigger fan of dialogue driven films anyways so there will likely not be a superhero movie that will appeal to me any time soon.

Watchmen might be the closest you get to that.

Vikings >>> Game Of Thrones
Johnny Depp is the most overrated actor ever
David Eddings>>> George R.R. Martin
Terence Malick has only made one good film
The Deer Hunter is boring.

Agree on The Deer Hunter. Which Malick film do you like?

Sansa Stark 04-09-2014 07:10 PM

Not using an e-reader doesn't mean you're more well read than someone who does

you're just a pretentious ****

Badlands. Watching that film is like beautiful poetry.

Ah I haven't seen that one, I'll look into it. I've seen The Thin Red Line and Tree of Life and thought that both were pretty good, the latter moreso.

I used to be like that until I bought a Kindle Fire. I find that not only is reading better on an e-reader, I also read everything at a faster rate. It's also really great for renting my college textbooks on.

ladyislingering 04-10-2014 12:34 AM

I haven't regularly watched cable TV in at least 3 years.

I'm not missing anything.

Badlands is my favourite but I love The Thin Red Line too and Days Of Heaven is worth watching just for the cinematography. Not a fan of his newer stuff.

You might want to consider one, it might improve your reading comprehension skills :usehead:

People who brag about not going to theaters or watching TV are pretentious as ****. ;)

I'm actually kind of serious though, but I'm mostly talking about my douchey uncle.

Yeah tv cutters are the worse. They like to brag about not even owning a TV or how long they haven't watched or owned cable wearing it like a badge of honor.

Pfft.

GTFO.

I have a friend that I have to deal with her saying that constantly.

I just dismiss her as a hipster and move on with the conversation.

ikr? they say this like they live in a library,
Books is where is at! only they just own a handful of books and spend most of their time on the internet watching stupid sh*t just like the rest of us. >_>

What makes you say that it's 'evident to most' - I understood it perfectly and I think I'm in the majority. While we're getting technical what's with your odd paragraph choices?

I love books but cinema is the ultimate art form and to discredit it is completely ignorant. Those people piss me off so much.

It doesn't make a difference to me at all I'm just curious as to whether there's a reason you post in verse - or at least seem to do a line break after every few words.

I know a few people that are like that about Facebook as well. They think they're so much more enlightened than everyone else who uses it. Especially when they use the term "masses" or "sheeple" to describe the users.

I respect that. It's quite original and interesting either way.

Cable is expensive, man. (And theaters are expensive, too - like, damn, I could just pirate that shit for free.)

Netflix and YouTube have everything a person with limited freetime could ever want. ;)

I dig the show, but the comic was definitely dullsville. I gave up a little bit after they left the camp outside Atlanta. If they're gonna concentrate on character drama then they have to actually have good character drama.

Black Francis 04-11-2014 01:19 PM

Though i don't like the walking dead and think the zombie concept is overrated i like this vid.

A friend of mine (a walking dead fan btw) showed this me vid to prove to me how you can use the zombie premise in different ways.

It's so much more than the zombies. If I just wanted a typical zombie flick, I would just watch a zombie related movie that ends after two hours and be done with it.

That's fine if you don't want to connect or get into the character development that takes place over the course of different seasons. I find it interesting and will continue to watch.

Tristesse 04-11-2014 05:04 PM

24 is pretty dull, the whole format is uninteresting. I lost interest about 2/3 of the way through Season 1.

Yeah, they've been filming it in London over the past few months I think.
