Shaolin Soccer

The english dub is hilariously bad and the whole film is a cheesy mix of asian humour, anime tropes and super powered kung fu soccer. Truly, Stephen chow needs to make more movies.

Wow this movie is bad. Yet .. it's also brilliant. I don't recommend watching it stoned as a close personal friend almost suffocated, he was laughing so hard he couldn't breathe. It's also a great source of idiotic quotes.

Every stoner i know loves this movie and YES we can quote the dialogue however i can't quote my fav character from the film cause most of her dialogue is gibberish.

Beerfest

Is it horrible or just a work of art. I choose the latter.

House Bunny

I watched it and found it pretty cute as movies go. Sure it lacks anything that anybody would deem quality but its a good watch.

Damn you youtube

Black Francis 02-25-2015 01:45 PM

Ahh Beer Fest. i forgot that one..

For some reason that reminded me of this one

Shaolin Soccer was amazing! Though it proved to be too silly for most of my friends, which only shows what they know.
If you liked Shaolin soccer, you'll love this:

Just as silly, but a lot more epic and there are some really cool visual effects there.

Yea i know, ive seen both films way too much.
i luv the homage he does at the loony tunes.. you know that part when he and the land lord lady start running all cartoon like :p:

Though Kung fu hustle is better, i prefer Shaolin soccer for its concept. i like the idea of super powered sports.

My girlfriend (now wife) and I drove into Boston and saw that in a theater. Terrible movie but with some really smoking scenes. The drive home was... distracting.

This here's proof that something can be so bad it's brilliant. Fails so spectacularly at every effort it makes to be a po-faced sci-fi/action movie and viable sequel that it's actually pretty awesome. Michael Ironside and a young John McGinley are so over the top as the film's villains that they're just an absolute joy to watch. Sean Connery (nonsensical as his character in this movie is) looks like he's really enjoying his role here too, and he's got a good, fun screen chemistry with co-star Christopher Lambert. Also, the latter' old man voice in the 1st act is just about the most unintentionally funny thing ever.

Put simply, I love this movie, and for all it's baffling plotholes, ridiculous performances and every other wrong decision they made in production, it's actually the film I enjoy the most out of the whole Highlander franchise.

The first two are great. Over the Top is pretty bad though. It reminds me of a bad version of Champ, which might also be considered awful.

Lean on me is a classic. There is nothing cheesy about that movie. That and Stand and Deliver still stand up as great movies.

I find its whole "Lets whip these kids into shape" concept to be somewhat cheesy and i also find Morgan's acting unintentionally funny :p:

it's a good film though.

I put it on a par with October Sky which I also love.

Yeah, I remember the Highlander series doing the rounds when I was a kid as well. Along with the first movie it's probably the most objectively good thing to come out of the Highlander franchise. The 4th movie was alright as well.

Again though, I personally get way more enjoyment out of just laughing my arse off at this one though. From Michael Ironside's overacting to the shameless Blade Runner ripoffs, the hilariously hamfisted environmentalist message and so much more - what's not to love!

Such very different movies though. Love October Sky. Lean on Me is a bit one noted. Dude's just super angry the entire movie and screw what anyone else thinks.
