Seen it three times. I'm a fan.

Mentioned in another thread - check out Horrible Bosses (the first one - not the sequel). Lots of LOL moments and also featuring Colin Farrell.

Pet_Sounds 11-26-2014 08:12 AM

A Shot in the Dark. Peter Sellers was never finer.

Dale and Tucker vs Evil?
Dirty Movie?

Can't really think of any and I'm sure you've seen everything I have.

John Wilkes Booth 11-26-2014 01:39 PM

haven't seen either of those. i will be checking out some of the recommendations in this thread once i watch the trailers and decide which ones i wanna watch first. thanks for the suggestions everyone, feel free to keep em coming cause i have a basically endless need to keep myself occupied.

GuD 11-26-2014 05:50 PM

You would probably love Tucker and Dale vs Pure Evil. That movie is great.

Half Baked
Dazed and Confused
Addam's Family
World's Greatest Dad
Clerks
any of the Trailer Park Boys movies
Cheap Thrills (more of a Thriller realy but it's got moments(
Chasing Amy
2 Days in New York

Just some stuff I can recommend off the first few pages of Amazon Prime's comedy flicks.

Frownland 11-26-2014 06:03 PM

Fargo, Brazil, Nebraska, and The Big Lebowski are all great too.

I've been almost watching this for weeks. Will watch it soon.

I'm also gonna recommend a film that I haven't seen but want to: Bad Words

I can see it's a formulaic buddy film with swearing and mild degeneracy but it still looks fun. Let me know if I shouldn't bother.

+1 this move is fantastic.

John Wilkes Booth 11-27-2014 12:48 PM

i guess that'll have to be first since it got 3 endorsements.

i watched to good the bad and the weird and enjoyed it ok though tbh sometimes i got the characters confused cause it's a lot of asian faces to keep up with.

DwnWthVwls 11-27-2014 01:43 PM

Don't watch the trailer. It ruins all the funny moments.

Key 11-27-2014 01:45 PM

Yeah, it's best to go into it and just enjoy it with no pre-existing opinions. It may seem confusing at first, but it ends up being hilarious. Definitely one of the best of it's kind imo.

LoathsomePete 11-27-2014 06:19 PM

Four Lions (2010)

It basically asks the question, "what if the Three Stooges were terrorists?" The result, scarily enough, seems like a more plausible explanation for why someone would turn to terrorism than any reason 24 ever gave.

+1

Fantastic film. Chris Morris is a genius.

Watched this again last night for the first time in about 3-4 years. What a great movie on so many levels. Colin's best IMO.

John Wilkes Booth 11-30-2014 11:50 PM

i just watched the dale and tucker movie. i thought it was a decent movie but it wasn't hilarious to me. it was entertaining enough but didn't really make me laugh or anything.

think i'm going to do in burges next since frownland seems like a film nerd and chula re-rep'd it.

That's disappointing. I laughed a lot through the entire movie. Not sure what you wouldn't have found funny. I thought it was very clever.

John Wilkes Booth 12-01-2014 12:16 AM

dunno my sense of humor is different i guess. it was funny but it wasn't like the kind of **** that would make me laugh out loud. i liked the assumptions and everything and how nobody knew what was really going on. i mean i honestly enjoyed the movie it just never made me crack up.

have you seen the angriest man in brooklyn? it was sorta like that.

I haven't seen that.

I just found the different take on a spoof of a horror story quite clever. Granted, I can see why some people wouldn't find it funny, as I think a lot of the humor is quite subtle. At least from what I remember.

I've been a big fan of Robin Williams, even before his death (:(), so that'll definitely be a movie that I will watch.

I think Night at the Museum 3 will be both Robin Williams' and Mickey Rooney's last movie.

At least you kind of enjoyed it. I wasn't dying of laughter but as Ki said I liked the cleverness.

That woodchipper scene though...

then you might find it depressing tbh. i thought it was funny/entertaining but it was the type of movie where it would have made some sense to me if he killed himself after making it.

yea i enjoy subtle humor like that it just doesn't usually make me laugh. but i started this thread with the intention of basically getting new **** to watch so to me it's not a big deal that i didn't laugh at it cause i still enjoyed watching it. i'm just trying to be as honest as possible with my reactions. it's the kind of movie where i'd smirk instead of laugh. but to be honest i dont laugh easily at all at movies so that's not really a diss.

i watched in bruges... that **** was pretty funny. pretty dark but still funny. pretty much right up my alley. i can't comment too much more without spoilers but yea good one. not sure which one i'll do next.

It's even funnier the second viewing. I just watched it the other night for the third time and picked up on some subtle little stuff I'd missed.

Do you laugh at people IRL more? I'm pretty similar to you in that it takes something I find really hilarious to get me to laugh during a movie/comedy skit. But I laugh a lot in my everyday life, I think as a subconscious reaction, so people don't feel bad that I don't find their jokes sh*tty.
