I don't really bother with the opening joke but everything else is a guy the perfect level of drunk to be a hilarious ******* right before he pees on the carpet.

DwnWthVwls 05-06-2020 08:11 AM

I guess since I like Norm and most of the other stuff posted here but not Stanhope all my cred goes out the window.

Frownland 05-06-2020 08:13 AM

Pretty much.

DwnWthVwls 05-06-2020 08:19 AM

Id like a third opinion from someone who doesnt consume massive amounts of alcohol.

The Batlord 05-06-2020 08:20 AM

I think DWV just doesn't like loudness. He probably turns the volume down on his music a lot.

You don't need validation from any of us bro, you're free to enjoy what you like.

DwnWthVwls 05-06-2020 08:23 AM

Thanks, Frown.

OccultHawk 05-06-2020 08:38 AM

Stanhope is like what people claim George Carlin is. He genuinely gets it.

grindy 05-07-2020 03:19 AM

Stanhope is my favourite.

DwnWthVwls 05-07-2020 05:32 AM

You all have bad taste. Its the only explanation.

How To Basic's sense of physical comedy is hard to top.

DwnWthVwls 05-08-2020 11:36 AM

I found that funny. Did I redeem myself?

Frownland 05-08-2020 11:38 AM

Huh?

**** you

Marie Monday 05-08-2020 02:50 PM

Even I think Stanhope is pretty funny, and I'm generally not a fan of stand up comedy

The Batlord 05-08-2020 02:56 PM

So you're finally seeing things my way.

You good?

The Batlord 05-08-2020 03:03 PM

Was that not an intentional pun?

Frownland 05-08-2020 03:04 PM

A pizza pun? I would've phrased it more betterly.

Plankton 09-29-2020 10:36 AM

I've been listening to comedy on my commute into work lately, and I'm a happy mother****er by the time I get there, but one of the funnier comedians they play is Iliza Shlesinger. Bill Burr is always a riot too. Laughing my ass off at a stop light and looking over to see people grinning at me from the next car is always an extra bonus.

TheBig3 09-29-2020 10:53 AM

Read through most of the thread. A few comments:

1. Bill Burr is competing with Dave Chapelle to be the GOAT, though Paper Tiger was not my favorite.
2. Dane Cook, while not great, has a few bits that are worth your time. The heist and the "you never leave your cart" bit from those first albums.
3. If you're not up on Chelsea Peretti yet, I think she's great. This bit closes well, but it should give you an idea of if she's your style.

She's weird, but I kinda like that.

Plankton 09-29-2020 11:13 AM

I've seen Chelsea and she has her moments. I thought I recognized her from a few bit roles too, like Parks & Rec.

I've been digging some Dana Carvey lately too for some reason. I think it's the magic moment when the coffee kicks in and everything is funny though.

I wasn't mad about it either but I think that the special suffered from poor editing. They splice together several shows for the best bits, but it disrupts the continuity and improvisation that puts him above the edge. The reason I think this is because I saw a phone video clip from around January of him doing a bit that dipped into crowdwork and it killed 100x more than anything from Paper Tiger.

Same, I saw him the October prior play to the home audience here in Boston and that show was about 90% better than the netflix special. Thats why I don't attack it outright. It's not his fault I saw a better preview.

Stanhope is a legend...I love his scene from Louie where he does the porn bit

Here's a genuine question for any and every one... Name one genuinely top tier special by a female comedian. As in not just good for a broad but top tier in general.

Period Mist

jwb 10-01-2020 05:49 PM

Concession accepted

Anyone else?

The Batlord 10-01-2020 06:08 PM

I mean I can't think of any and I don't have any female comedians in my top 5 but why are you hammering on this? It won't make you any funnier by association as a male. Only drugs can do that.

jwb 10-01-2020 06:29 PM

I'm genuinely curious.. I'm not unwilling to be convinced.

Drugs could potentially make me funnier but Steel Reserve will only continue to make you dumber.

The Batlord 10-01-2020 07:36 PM

Old news. Colt 45 High Gravity has .5 more alcohol content and is a dollar cheaper per tallboy six pack.

jwb 10-01-2020 07:39 PM

.5 more?

Wow that's amazing. Too bad there isn't anything that's like 40-50% alcohol available

Stop drinking, pussy

The Batlord 10-01-2020 07:40 PM

8.5 you non-Jew mathtard.

jwb 10-01-2020 07:43 PM

Yeah I spotted that mistake already. You're still a lightweight pussy ftr

Frownland 10-01-2020 07:50 PM

You should drink wine, it's like 13 percent.

It's not all I drink in a night. Just the centerpiece.

Only Merlot and Chardonnay. Most wines are slightly less. There's nothing like a good wine buzz though. There's also nothing like a good wine hangover.

But truth be told, if you're gonna be a self destructive alkie and can't even stomach the taste of cheap liquor you should skip the middle man and go straight to AÀ cause you ain't built for this life son

The Batlord 10-01-2020 08:12 PM

Five years in and I'm still fully functional so maybe the middle class can just deal with their booze better than poor people.
