Did anyone see the Dave Chapelle Snl monologue? Now that he's buff he kinda looks like a ninja turtle but he still as funny as ever. Chris Rock was there too and he still does that weird eye thing where kinda looks to the side before the punchline of the joke.

Yeah it was awesome. I kinda wanna watch the whole episode after seeing that and the sketch with all of his personalities on their knees about to get shot.

I saw all the skits Chapelle was in and imo this is the best one along with election night.

What I really wanna see Chapelle do is more Stand up. He's still as funny as he was but now he's focusing more on social critiques. He's more mature now.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 11-30-2016 02:13 PM

I heard he signed a deal with Netflix for 3 specials. Not sure if it's true or not, I'm kind of skeptical of it since he only seems to leave his house once or twice a year.

Jim Gaffigan has a new special on Netflix and I got about 20 minutes into it before I turned it off. Anyone else feel like his humor has gotten stale?

I watched it with my parents and thought it has its moments, but I honestly thought he went stale after the first special.

DwnWthVwls 01-17-2017 12:26 AM

Not a fan.

Key 01-17-2017 10:49 AM

I liked his first two specials from what I remember, but anything after that just started to get a bit repetitive and stale. His self deprecating humor about his weight etc gets old pretty fast. It's like Jeff Dunham after his first special.

Frownland 01-17-2017 10:53 AM

*Jeff Dunham the second he decided to make a career out of comedy

I thought his stuff was clever the first time I saw it, then I got bored of it.

Do you think being 13 years younger than you are now had anything to do with it?

Of course it did.

The IT guy at my college used to love his Achmed vids (did he do anything else?), would see him laughing at them pretty much every day for a few months. I think I smirked a few times when I first watched them.

Bill Burr - Walk Your Way Out

Excellent, but not his best.

Chiomara 02-02-2017 10:30 PM

I get so much second-hand embarrassment watching stand-up that most of them are just unwatchable for me. But I watched Maria Bamford's netflix special recently and it was just... the most delightful, bizarre spectacle imaginable. It was filmed in her house with her parents as the only audience which only made it better.

two new Dave Chapelle specials on Netflix. just finishing the first one now, pretty good but definitely not his best. just glad to see him back honestly.

gonna watch the 2nd one later today.

Goofle 03-29-2017 02:06 PM

Watched the Dave Chappelle specials earlier. They were quite funny. I think he had some good things to say but some of it just wasn't that hilarious. The first one was probably the best of the two. I wish he made fewer jokes about race personally because he has a lot more to contribute, and his race jokes were kinda hit and miss compared to other stuff he has done.

As for Bill Burr, I'll probably check it out tomorrow. I've heard some bad things about it but also some positives (on this thread). The criticism stems from him apparently losing his edge. I've not watched it yet, but I hope that's not the case.

It's definitely a step down, but enjoyable nonetheless.

He should have made a special just recycling all his jokes from the Joe Rogan election night coverage.

Yeah I'll judge for myself. But after listening to a few of the podcasts he has done with his wife, I can a reason why he may have toned it down a little. She's a little bit nutty when it comes to the topics he does best (feminism and race relations).

no way, the second was way better imo.

as far as bill burr goes, yeah his newest special wasn't all that impressive. i think he's made a great transition into the podcast world and writing for his show, so even if he's momentarily lost a bit on his stand-up, he's making up for it in other fields. not to mention he was on one hell of a roll prior to that, can't keep it going that strong forever.

Goofle 03-30-2017 08:20 AM

The Bill Burr special was alright. Started off badly for me by calling Trump a racist about 10 times. But that's alright, kind of come to expect it. The Hitler/Stalin bit was great, and his fat shaming part was good. But I think the rest was kinda tame.

I can honestly say that when I watched the special, I didn't laugh a single time. I thought that was weird, but then other people said the same thing.

GuD 03-30-2017 01:31 PM

Donald Trump is pretty funny. Look at that ridiculous man, thinking he's the president of anything other than sporting bad toupees.

djchameleon 03-30-2017 03:16 PM

I ditto the sentiments regarding Bill Burr's special. I felt like I was missing someone. The audience was dying and I'm like what?

Chula Vista 03-30-2017 05:07 PM

Joe Rogan can really be pretty bad sometimes but his recent special on Netflix is killer. He does a skit towards the end how it was the coven of Kardashian women that drove Bruce to become a women. It's hilarious and he uses some great physical comedy at times.

i liked the special but that bit was by far my least favourite part.

Frownland 03-31-2017 08:25 AM

You're talking about Triggered, right? I might check it out, but if I get back problems from cringing (as Joe Rogan makes me wont to do), you owe me some of your pain meds, Chula.

Key 03-31-2017 10:41 AM

Oh god, no thank you to Joe Rogan. I can't stand any of his comedy, and I'm not about to change that.

Akai 03-31-2017 12:05 PM

Lee Evans,
Frankie Boyle;
Milton Jones,

Goofle 03-31-2017 06:11 PM

He's pretty cool. His special wasn't that great but I enjoyed it fine.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 03-31-2017 07:55 PM

why don't people like rogan? the normal complaint i hear is about his fans being douchey, which i don't disagree with.

Goofle 04-01-2017 06:21 AM

probably related to the guests he has and what he talks about. He's tame as fuck himself imo.
