See we're not that different after all

I don't think anyone actually finds him funny so it's really not saying that much lol

Actually it is. It attacks modern sacred cows, not the same ones Carlin attacked decades ago.

Sex isn't edgy anymore. Unless it's not consensual.

Where as Chappelle is primal. He's making Chinese faces. He's buying guns to protect his property from heroine addicted whites. He's actually being funny. Not witty, not insightful, funny.

You say primal, I say reactionary. And wit is a huge component of comedy, I'm not sure what you're driving at there unless you're agreeing with me that Chappelle isn't very funny on his latest special.

Nah, it's still not edgy. The backlash isn't the tidal wave that people are making it out to be, it's just 2 dozen people on Twitter. You sure do give a lot of power to the people that you don't seem to want to drive the conversation.

I disagree. When I get the chance I can give you a point by point breakdown of why this is edgier than any special I've ever seen on Netflix. It will take me a while though. I'm probably going to rewatch the special to make sure I remember everything correctly. It might be tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Reacting to PC trends would've been edgy in 2010 but not anymore.

You should watch the David Cross special that came out this year, it's similarly smarmy low tier non-humour. It also has some reactionary cultural martyrdom so jwb might get something out of it too.

Reacting to PC trends goes back to Lenny Bruce, so they're no reason to draw the line at 2010.

This is still the kinda **** that gets you into actual controversy from time to time. Being edgy and dashing pc norms are basically the same thing. The only thing that changes is what's considered PC

there are plenty of lefty comics that I like. I like David cross in Mr show and arrested developement, I just also enjoy making fun of the disabled and the down trodden.

anyway trans folk and potential rape victims are not the sacred cows of today

there's a little less tolerance for it and a little more awareness but we still live in a culture that's incredibly toxic towards both these groups

he was a better political commentator on politically incorrect, he just wasn't ever very funny.

was.

There's nothing remotely dangerous anymore about that. The old Christian right lost the culture war. Hopefully the modern leftist outrage mobs will too, in time.
