Rick and Morty
There's no topic for this show right now and that is a god damn travesty.
It's too early in the show's lifespan for me to make grand statements, but all I can say is that I have personally never seen a show besides Breaking Bad that has been as consistently brilliant up to this point. We're at the start of season 2 and I do not have a semblance of a complaint about anything regarding this show. It is THAT spectacular. If you've never seen it, you can find every episode pretty easily on Youtube. The episodes are short and there aren't that many so you could easily binge it in a couple days, and trust me it's worth it. It's truly amazing. |
Goofle suggested this to me and I wrote it off because I don't really watch cartoons. I ended up watching a couple episodes the other day because I had to and I found it pretty funny. I saw the dark matter one, and the mr. meeseeks (which I thought was ****ing hilarious with the golf swing thing).
Not something I would watch on my own but I'd definitely recommend it for someone who is into cartoons and weird humor. |
I want to live in Cronenberg universe.

Have you seen any of season 2 yet? Episodes 1-3 are leaked, all 3 are ****ing excellent |
I just spent the last four hours binging the entire first season and it might be in my top 5 adult comedy cartoon shows.

I think "Total Rikkal" is easily my favorite episode.

It's brilliant.
Great humour, awesome, brain-twisting sci-fi plots, at times even some pretty smart stuff about life and ****. Among the best series ever and I hope it stays that way. |

rikki tikki tavi, bitch! and that's the waaaaaaay the news goes! hit the sack, jack! uh oh, somersault jump! AIDS! and that's why I always say "shum shum shlipidy dop! grass...tastes bad! no jumpin in the sewer! burger time! rubber baby bagy bumpers! lick lick lick my balls! |
The new one is pretty great, big improvement over last weeks' music competition episode.

The new one was awesome though |
My homies made me binge the entire first season and the second season up to Get Schwifty a couple of weeks ago after I neglected to start watching it on my own. In highschool I was totally burnt out on the ultra-hyper look-how-weird-I-am animated series style dominated by Egoraptor, OneyNG, ADHD, and all of those others dudes on YouTube. So any time I get a whiff of that sort of approach to animation it immediately turns me off and I avoid it, which is unfortunate and unfair, because a lot of these animated series are actually pretty good, like Rick & Morty (and Apollo Gauntlet). Because of this bias I don't seem to get as much out of Rick & Morty as most people do but I have to admit that it's pretty damn clever most of the time. A Rickle In Time, Lawnmower Dog, Total Rickall, Rixty Minutes, Meeseeks & Destroy, and a couple other episodes with the exaggerated nods to sci-fi were all great.
More of Rick's devices and less of Jerry, Beth, and Summer, please. |
The only thing I kind of wish the show would tone down on is Jerry and Beth's love/hate relationship due to Beth's pregnancy with Summer. It seemed like they slowly built towards some kind of resolution in Rixty Minutes but every now and then it pops back up. Personally I'd prefer to see more Rick/ Summer episodes because it's always a fun dynamic and it gives Summer a chance to shed her boring teenage girl stereotype. I mean the latest episode was pretty funny as she was stuck in the car and having to witness emotionally scarring incidents, but I would like to see more of her and Rick. Actually a Rick/Beth adventure episode would be even more funny because it would allow for some more backstory on why Rick ran out on his wife and daughter and what brought him back into her life.
|
Yeah afaik Beth is the only character that we have yet to see out on some wild adventure in space. The episode with Jerry in that daycare was hilarious, getting these generally boring people out into these wild scenarios is a hell of a lot more interesting than using the love/hate subplot over and over again. Definitely one of my few complaints with the show

Ive seen one eps of it, the one Rick hooks the tv to get channels from parallel universes.
It was pretty good. I can see why ppl are raving about it. im not really that interested in the show to seek it out but if im watching Tv and the show happens to be on i'll watch it. |
... That season finale
This show is too ****ing good |

Not that there was something explicitly wrong with it, but it felt overall forced and uncreative. |
Sometimes it's the simple, goofy plots that are the best for this show. Forced and uncreative is how I'd describe the TV channel episode at the alien hospital

Although that one 'show', that described how that weird thingy is being made, made me laugh pretty damn hard. Edit: Found it. |
I started this show after finishing community season six, and watched season one in three days. Pretty damn good if I do say so myself.

Long Live Rick & Morty!
|
|
Season 3 still isn't here but I've been watching a lot of Rick and Morty so I thought I'd bump this back up. Honestly the best show cartoon since Adventure Time to come around. It's so hilarious and bizarre but so real and heartbreaking at the same time.
|
R&M crushes Adventure Time. I don't think a new cartoon series of this caliber has come out since The Simpsons.
Also Season 3 by mid-February or we riot. |

What if that was a fake premiere? Could have been an April fools prank partnered with McDonald's.
Great episode though. |
I was thinking at the end there that Rick was still in the federation prison brain melting thing. I felt like too many important things happened too quickly. For the most part though the episode was funny.
|
season 3 is ****ing banging so far.
