Why didn't they just let the rights die, like with Daredevil? I know they made money off the first movie, but it's not like anybody was ever going to give a **** about a new one.

nobody gave a **** about a new batman movie until nolan made batman begins. nobody gave a crap or had even heard about the guardians of the galaxy until marvel made the movie and it was awesome.

people would love a new FF movie if it was good. the problem is the ONLY reason they made this film is because the rights were about to revert back to marvel. they didn't make it because they wanted to make a good FF movie.

Probably because it's embarrassing enough to not be able to make a good movie out of the property, but to give it back to your competitor who turns around and makes a hit just makes you look utterly incompetent. FOX executive heads would be rolling come Monday after Marvel's Fantastic Four breaks box office records and receives critical praise, so it's easier to just cover one's ass and pretend like what went wrong with the movie was something unforeseeable. Right now though, it's all about damage control, and it's bad enough when the film's director is slagging it off on Twitter the day of the release, but to have an executive come out and say "We're cancelling the sequel in 2017 and selling the rights back to Marvel" would be career suicide. News on it will go dark, FOX will focus attention away to Deadpool, X:Men Apocalypse and Gambit, and that June 9, 2017 sequel release date will be filled with something else, most likely X-Men related. I highly doubt that there will be another FF movie within the next 5-6 years and wouldn't be surprised at all if they negotiate a trade, Marvel gets the movie rights back for FF and FOX gets TV rights for the X-Men.

Then I'm just assuming that they basically flipped a coin to see whether they were going to make a Daredevil or a FF movie. I can't imagine them taking a chance on two almost certain flops. If so, then I suppose I'm happy with the coin flip in any case.

Now it's just time to pray they don't butcher Deadpool.

Deadpool will almost be certainly be garbage if the trailer is any indication.

What's your problem with it? The back story which will invariably take up far too much of the first half of the movie? I was hoping we could not have that, but everything else about the trailer looked fine to me (even if they're probably going to use Daniel Way-Deadpool for a character movie). It definitely didn't make me **** my pants like the Suicide Squad trailer did, though.

it just felt like it was trying way too hard to be funny/cool. i like the idea of breaking the fourth wall i just didn't find any of the jokes funny in the trailer at all. i cringed almost the entire length of the trailer.

Which is exactly what Deadpool does. And I laughed a few times. Mostly at the guy trying to describe how ugly Deadpool was.

Oh, and the fact that they're putting in Blind Al gives me a boner (metaphorically). She's had almost no presence to speak of since the first half of Deadpool's first solo series (Deadpool MAX is the only thing which comes to mind, and that doesn't really count), despite being one of the most important ones in his whole universe.

YOu would think. If franchise makes no money than they wouldn't care if they lost the rights.

Seeing as how the film has only made a paltry $41 million in domestic gross after ten days of release and dropping fast, it's safe to say that Marvel will probably get the rights back soon enough.

Ant Man was way more niche and unknown than this, and it's almost at $160 million. But then again, that was actually a good movie.
