I mean, I've heard a lot of people say that they're seeing it "because it's Star Wars". You don't think that that demographic will change their tune if they have **** thrown in their faces?

I haven't seen it, but you're banking unrealistically hard on the household name factor.

The ****'s making and is going to continue to make a disgusting amount of money regardless of what any ultra nerd thinks, especially since the masses clearly liked the movie a lot which one can easily see by looking at the various websites like IMDB

your making a point in here somewhere yes? opinions of the film don't matter hence nobody should share their opinion?

You're neglecting the power of children and marketing to a comical degree. And the fact that the movie has been widely praised and the vocal minority of supernerds like Bat is not indicative of what the masses actually think. Doesn't mean Bat's opinion is wrong or whatever the ****, just means that subsequent movies are undoubtedly and undeniably going to = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Just something I thought I'd fill you in on.

Why do you keep calling us supernerds when you are in fact one yourself?

The first star trek was widely praised. Whats Abrams going to do with the next film? He kind-off used up all the nostalgia in this one I feel like

I was down with it. I think they tried too hard for comic relief though, too many lame jokes.

Ren is a major queer

All things considered, though, a star wars sequel is something that movie execs can pretty much bank on. Is it going to do as well as The Force Awakens? That remains to be seen. But on paper, at least the next film would be guarenteed to do well even if the response from audiences hadn't been as generally positive as it has been for The Force Awakens.

Sure, VIII will make a lot of money, and I do have a feeling it will be much better than this one due to changing directors as well as amping up the action and story now that everyone is reintroduced and back on board with the franchise.

But consider how many Star Wars movies Disney is planning on pumping out over the coming years:

The Force Awakens - 2015
Star Wars: Rogue One - 2016
Episode VIII - 2017
Han Solo - 2018
Episode IX - 2019
Boba Fett - 2020

They already have the next five years loosely planned out, and because it's Disney, we know they're not gonna stop. I may have been a little too harsh on Force Awakens, and it might be better with a second viewing, but Disney is going to cram SW down everyone's throat for the foreseeable future.

That can either be a good thing or a bad thing. They could handle it like they've handled the Marvel franchise, which I hope they do, cause I love SW and don't want to see it become the Hollywood version of Call of Duty where a new movie every single year starts wearing people out over time, especially if the quality degrades along with it.

All of those films listed will make boatloads of money in comparison to anything else that will be out, but my lukewarm opinion of The Force Awakens plus the fact that Disney is going to pump at least one SW film out every year does have me concerned. I have a sinking feeling that SW is going to become a yearly assembly line product that never tries anything new and is simply a safe product for the masses and no more under Disney's handling. It may be extremely profitable for now, but it could decrease with each film over time if they keep going down a certain path.

Not all of us are fanboys hating on the film. Some of us are just legitimately concerned for this franchise and Disney's potential handling of it.

Holy ****! I had no idea they were doing so many of them. I thought it was just gonna be a new trilogy.
