Oscar Prediction Thread (2016)
Hey I don't know if anyone here actually cares about the Oscars but they released the Nominations.
Spoiler for Nominations:
Would love to see what everyone is predicting to win. I still have a few more I need to see so I'll post mine closer to the 28th. |
Positive that The Revanent will at least rake in the cinematography award, most likely best pic too. I've seen very few of these though since I'm too broke to afford the cinema and my computer is too slow to stream or torrent whole films.
|
The Academy is finally going to give Leo his statue.
|
I kind of hoped they would put Star Wars for Best Picture just to get people to watch the award show but it seems they used Mad Max instead. I haven't seen it though so if it actually is good, which I will see this weekend, then I hope it gets George Miller the Oscar for Best Director.
|
Yeah, I've only seen 3-4 movies on that list.
But that reminds me: Anyone else thinks that "Writing's on the Wall", the song from Spectre, is cringe-inducingly terrible? Talk about bad lyrics. Not that the music itself is any better. |
Oh I hated that song. I don't really care about that award though since most songs for movies are not really that great.

BTW, you owe me 25 bucks. |
I hope he gets it, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if he didn't.
|
Right now I would give DiCaprio the edge over the rest of them but Fassbender of Redmayne might rip it from him.

Anyone else rooting for Rylance to win Best Supporting Actor?
Bridge Of Spies was alright, nothing special, but his performance was amazing. Not that Hardy wouldn't deserve the award as well. |
Quote:
He's won Golden Globes in the past and lost the Oscar though. The dudes body of work is so impressive when you think about it. He could have won the AA for at least 6 of his flicks. |

Imagine if he did win and turned it down or did some sort of similar "go **** yourselves, Academy." Maybe if he said that during his speech.

Leonardo can **** off. Ennio Morricone got his Oscar after more than 70 goddamn years of waiting.

I honestly haven't heard it or seen The Hateful Eight, but reputation is half of the game these days.

Frownland can **** off. Leo finally got his due. Every single person in that room knew it. The guy has been killing it for years.

*whistles* bwam bwam bwam

Rylance won! Amazing. They tend to favour over the top and flashy Supporting performances over the really subtle, understated stuff, so it's a pleasant surprise. Very well deserved.
|
Brad Pitt hasn't won an Oscar so fuck the Oscars.

I'm not a huge Oscars fan, but Ennio winning was great.
|
Are the Oscars specifically for American films?
And I don't know which film Brad Pitt should have won for. I just know that he deserves one. |
