Video games that would make excellent TV shows

I don't know about you but I have a feeling that Grand Theft Auto would make an excellent TV show. The first season would follow the storyline of Grand Theft Auto 1. The second season would follow Grand Theft Auto 2's story. Do you see the pattern? Everything would be in chronological order. There would be human actors rather than computer-animated characters.

Already been done. It's called Burn Notice.

I had to google Burn Notice. Since 2010, I haven't had a satellite dish and I haven't used cable.

kibbeh 08-31-2016 01:27 PM

nobody watches burn notice.

The Batlord 08-31-2016 01:28 PM

Basically a secret agent gets betrayed and dumped by his superiors in Miami with no money, no security clearance, no contacts, no nothing. So he has to slowly build up an operation to figure out what's going on.

Except for the main character being a secret agent instead of a gangster it's surprisingly similar to the plots of most GTA games.

Burn Notice was awesome for the first few seasons. Then they added in that fourth guy and the chemistry between the three main characters was ruined.

This. I really liked the first 2 seasons.
As for the topic:
http://debatstuk.blog.pl/files/2015/05/35254_2.jpg
(in case you recognize the world, that's Dandelion, Geralt and Yennefer..)
But this time preferably with a plot, with acting, with a budget, with decent special effects, with the atmosphere and witty dialogue.. you know, all the things that made the Witcher games/books stand out, that were sadly absent in this poor excuse for a tv show that came out years ago. No, it's not even "so bad it's good". it's simply embarrassing.

GoT has shown everybody a well designed, very dark fantasy world can work, can be a success in more ways than one and can bring the studios a ton of money. Since there are only what, 2 seasons left ? I really hope the people behind it are looking in the direction of the Witcher.

Star Wars, superhero movies, and sword and sorcery TV shows all ruling pop culture. Nerd fashion might be bull****, but people are finally realizing that the things we like are infinitely superior to the things they like.

The Fallout series would make an excellent TV show. Like a post-apocalyptic game of thrones.

This. It'd not only make a great tv show, but a great movie series.

Oh ****, I just figured out an article idea.

I'd be on board with a fallout and mass effect one but I also would like to see a shadowrun one. I'd like to see the world of shadowrun in a series cause it has a retro cyberpunk vibe not unlike the original Total recall but it also has shamans on its world so it has both magic and technology. Shadowrun also has a bit of a cult following so I'm sure i wouldn't be the only one watching it.

The Batlord 09-08-2016 10:44 AM

Manhunt.

Frownland 09-08-2016 10:53 AM

I always thought that Doom would be a cool game to adapt into a movie.

Black Francis 09-08-2016 11:03 AM

So would be Mario bros.

The Batlord 09-08-2016 11:05 AM

The last fourth or whatever of Doom is fantastic.

I assume you're talking about the most recent one? It is indeed fantastic.

The movie with The Rock, genius.

JGuy Grungeman 09-08-2016 11:40 AM

Actually, I can see a good live-action Mario movie. The problem with the last one was that many of the characters and places were still being experimented on. The franchise is more set in stone now, so it's still possible.

Actually, if he were young enough, Ray Romano would've made a great Luigi. And Hulk Hogan would be a fantastic Bowser.

OMG I think JGuy just made that movie even more ridiculous. And this coming from a fan.

JGuy Grungeman 09-08-2016 11:50 AM

Come on. Don't tell me you don't want to see that.

The Batlord 09-08-2016 11:51 AM

Guy Fieri as Mario and we'll talk.

Frownland 09-08-2016 11:51 AM

I don't want to see that.

Don't even entertain the idea it's possible cause even doing that would be too much of a stretch. I actually think the movie tried to what was right and tried to create a cinematic world where the Mario brothers characters could become movie characters. Ofc it failed horribly but they had the right idea in changing the setting because the Mario universe and concept in the game simply doesn't translate well into a live action movie. It's too childish simple and cartoonish and it didn't even work as a cartoon. They tried to adapt Mario in the past to other media formats and it just didn't work and at this point I don't think anyone wants them to try again.

It also doesn't help that Mario doesn't have a real plot.

Sonic would make a great one. Too bad we have five different ones and none of them are great in the good way.

Sonic the Hedgehog
The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic Underground
Sonic X
Sonic Boom (overrated)
