I use closed captioning in English

Frown, I didn’t know filming everything in the dark is a money saver. It makes things less interesting.

Seems like Game of Thrones popularized it avoid gaffs like water bottles, cups, watches, etc.

It makes everything visually boring (to me)

Which may be why GOT never captured my attention enough to follow the plot.

I secretly think almost no one understood it, though

I get that it can seem a little unwieldy when they're introducing the families and plot lines that haven't connected yet, but it's definitely not hard to understand.

^ For me too. At the opposite extreme, I really like the bright panoramas in movies like Lawrence of Arabia and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.
