Fortnite
Anyone play it?
It’s the most played game on planet earth right now, it’s free, it’s on nearly every platform (Switch will prolly get it soon), and its fun as hell |
I'd be down to do some squads with you guys. I've put a little bit of time into it. It's a good time. Especially if you're not hugely into PUBG.
|
it’s a-ok and id be down for squads too i guess but BR games are pretty boring as a whole. got my fill of pubg a long time ago and this game was fun for awhile (before i had my pc it was the only BR game available on xbox so i enjoyed it then) but it’s since gotten pretty old.
not really sure about it being an esport either as some ppl refer to it. a little too rng for my taste. |
I have it downloaded but haven't played it yet. When I decide to start I'll probably get really into it and I'll let you guys know. I don't know if it matters but I have it on PS4.
|
i know some people who play this all the time.. game seems cool.
|
Squads would be a ton of fun
It's interesting you got tired of it Qwerty, I wonder how long it'll take for me to get tired of it. I've only been playing for a couple months now but boy I feel like I could play this for 8 hours a day and love every second of it @Exo you can play squads multi-platform, so PS4 can still play with PC which is pretty awesome. The only cross-platform combination that doesn't work is Xbox to PS4, which I think is because Sony is snobby about it or something |
Well, count me in for squads, and if we get 2 more people, we could do it. That'd be tons of fun.
|
I might check it out in a couple of weeks.
|
Definitely been having a good time getting back into Fortnite since I haven't played it in several months. I think this is more my type of game, especially since H1Z1 is kind of in its own world right now. PUBG is a lot of fun, but I'm definitely more a fan of the shorter matches. I'm still down to do some squads, or even some duos if you guys are up for it.

Just placed #3 in my last match. Unfortunately didn't have the high ground, but I did get a kill.
|
I have 3 wins to my name, 2 of which were in solos. It’s really ****ing difficult. I’m getting considerably better at picking up kills though, usually averaging 3-4 a game depending on where I land

ive played maybe like 20 games and then lucked into a win somehow. im very bad - like cant beat anyone 1v1 bad. my roommate was pissed cuz hes played way more than me and hasn't won yet. ive been thinking about going pro now tho
|
Had a few rough matches last night. Got top 15 a few times. One with a kill right at the beginning.
Do you guys like to fall right into the action or do you drop far away and loot? I do a mixture of both. |
as far away as possible off the bat. then a panic sprint away from the storm. i don't wanna see a single person until top 30. works like a charm
|
I like areas that are kind of in the middle. Not super remote but I’ll probably have to fight a guy or two. Now to be fair I probably have several hundred more games of experience over you guys so I’m more confident that I’ll win the fights over an average person. My favorite drop areas are Fatal Fields, Pallet Palace (the unnamed factory area northeast of Flush Factory), and Lonely Lodge. Junk Junction is fun sometimes too
My least favorite thing is fighting someone and a 3rd player swoops in to shoot you in the back, but I still drop to Tilted from time to time and try to Rambo as many kills as I can (spoiler: usually not many) |
I haven't played enough to have a favorite spot, but I do like to fall at least somewhere in between the middle and 3/4 out from the middle. Sometimes I will go full Rambo just to try it out. The kills I have gotten have felt pretty good but I have been victim to being shot from behind or from a mountaintop. Luckily Fortnite isn't super punishing so it's very easy to just get into another match and try again.
Pubg for me would just draw on too long. Still a great game and worthy of the praise it gets. Just not my style. I miss H1z1 in its prime. That was some good solid BR fun. Sniping btw is really fun. |
PAth of Exile created a battle royale mini game for april fools. Was fun while it lasted.
|
Honestly I suck at pretty much every multiplayer game, but I am gonna give this more of a chance. I hate PUBG with a passion, but Fortnite is a lot more fun and I can see myself enjoying it while also sucking.

Yeah I like that aspect of the game.

Building is essential from what I've learned. I've been forcing myself to learn how to build and now I'm constantly looting for wood and metal. It's not so bad though because you can pretty much destroy anything and it'll give a payout of wood or metal. Once you get it though, you can make some pretty sweet sniper towers when things get iffy.
|
Just got my 2nd solo win. Feels so great man. The new builder pro controls are awesome for console scrubs like me

Honestly I don't get battle royale games.
I get why people can enjoy them but I don't get the hype around them. I guess it's like every other game fad these days. People play what everybody else does, not nessesarily because they wanted to or because they were waiting for it. Not to mention it's been in early access for ****ing ages, people are hyping around an unfinished game. The problem with fads and everyone shoving specific game coverage down everyone's throats is that devs who are looking to make new IPs are just making the same **** all the other devs are making in the spotlight. An example of this would be Cliff Bleszinski and his team. After Gears 4 he was looking for a new IP and instead of being creative and thinking of something new and increasing, he just looked and overwatch' success and made Lawbreakers. After that flopped in terms of sales the team just abandoned it, saw the success of battle royale games and obviously just went with a simular approach to Fortnite eg. art direction, gameplay etc. Now their IP is Radical Heights which looks predictable as well as cynical. Hopefully (at least) it can do something different with the genre. |
I tried it a few times but its' really boring if you're as terrible as me.
You run around, get all the good guns and then the first guy you meet kills you almost instantly from behind. |

You’re insinuating we only play Fortnite because its part of the new fad? **** off moron, we play it because it’s fantastic |
YorkeDaddy on the offensive with a rolling artillery barrage to put the enemy off balance.

Why not list your reasons for liking it rather than hurling insults right out of the gate. I was stating why I don't get it and why fads have a negative impact on the creativity of developers. Was more of an opinion piece about ganres in general if anything, Fortnite just happens to be a part of the topic in this quarter of popular games. By the way, if you didn't read my post or care about it then why did you take it as a personal shot and get your little knickers in a twist? |

The dip**** even wrote another like 4 paragraphs It astounds me how passionate people get about **** they don’t like. Get out of the ****ing thread jesus |
Great counter argument.

I don't need a counter argument, it's the most popular game in the world and a ****ton of people love it from all walks of life. I'm a hardcore lifelong gamer that generally plays RPGs and platformers. All this **** speaks for itself

I guess we should close the thread then. The game has already said all.
|
Quote:
But it's not, it's a thread for fans of the game |
Speaks for itself though, no real point when all of the work is done for you.
|
Obviously not given the multiple pages of replies from fans of the game talking about their experiences, strategies, and plans of eventually getting together to play as a team
|
If the game speaks for itself then all discussion of it is pointless and therefore banned mate. You made these rules, not me.
