Default MB Video Game Classics: Alien Isolation

Gotta admit, I could not finish this game. It's truly terrifying but I would go on record as saying that it may be perhaps the most terrifying Alien game we've ever gotten. From the dark atmosphere to being on your toes every second, it's certainly an experience worth having. I know Bat and I have talked about this game many times, and how we are both big babies when it comes to it. But man, it's still really good.

I think it's supposed to peak with the Medical Center, cause after that the game gets drawn out with filler and none of the alien segments look as well done or tense but I never got past the Medical Center cause it's the most difficult thing I've ever done in a game. I mean the game is surprisingly unforgiving for a modern game but just getting up the courage to walk down a corridor is living chewing through your own arm. You take between ten seconds and ten minutes longer than you should just to leave your hidey-hole, then you're not even thinking just moving and telling yourself not to think or else you'll just cower under the nearest bed and be no better off than before, so it's almost like you're falling down the corridor at the mercy of horizontal gravity your heart's beating out of your chest your face is about to drop off your head unable to turn or stop or do anything until the tension becomes too much and you gotta do something anything OH **** A ****ING LOCKER HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA YES!!!

And then you hear the stomping before you even get to the locker and Ripley takes so long to get in and close the door and it's so damn loud.

**** this game it is life.

10/10 for what I've played 0/10 for the years it's taken off my heart.

I take offense to this decent but formulaic horror game being labeled a “classic” but whatever

I vote 3

Nothing was said about the other more recent games that I've polled. Plus, I don't think it's specifically catered to classic when I've given 4 other poll options in that case. I even voted 4/5 for this one. So did Bat.

I dont understand what youre saying

I just think every other game through this whole process could be argued as a “classic” game in that its important in the history of the medium. This is just some random OK-ish horror game that everybody forgot about

Like I enjoy this game more than Goldeneye for example but Goldeneye is clearly a classic whereas this game just kind of exists

I don't know if they forgot about it, it's just that Amnesia and Outlast already existed so it didn't get as much press. And while I haven't played Outlast, Amnesia scared the **** out of me while still never giving me the same vivid feeling of being hunted. Amnesia might be the better game overall but what Alien: Isolation does right it does so right that no amount of understandable criticisms can take away from it.

Well that's what the polls are for. To differentiate the games that are true classics and games that are close enough but not quite there yet. Obviously if you don't think this game is a true classic, you don't have to vote for it.

And I agree to what Bat said. This game didn't get the press is undoubtedly should've gotten.

Honestly, it's all in good fun so I wouldn't worry too much. If anything, these threads are just an excuse for me to talk about video games.

He's just mad you're not including bored (sic) games.

I mean, I'm just going based off the list we all provided. I can certainly add more if need be.

I liked this one. Reminded me of RE: Nemesis, with the big bad ass that stalks you and constantly pops out to **** with you. Could've been a bit better, I think, but still very good at what it does.
