I’d say invest in Shadow Isles mostly for now then. They are just a great all-around faction with some of the best control tools. Their early game package of Hapless Aristocrat, Cursed Keeper, Black Spear, Glimpse Beyond, Vile Feast are pretty much applicable in every style of deck, and then you can run crazy control stuff later like Rhasa, Hecarim, Ruination, or Ledros to end games. Control is definitely viable, but yeah the majority of what you’ll face is aggro. Its very easy to make aggro early on because the game gives you Elise for free and she’s obviously a 10/10 type of 2 drop
An important tip: you can use a card like Glimpse Beyond (kill a friendly unit to draw 2) on a blocker and the attacking unit will still count as blocked. This is a great way for Shadow Isles to get huge value out of little 1/1s. This does not work against Overwhelm units though, so dont forget that or you’ll probably lose a game doing this lol
You will also probably like Freljord. They have more great control tools and stuff like Avarosan Hearthguard really makes those kinds of lategame strategies great.
If you want to play the truly wacky control stuff you could look at Piltover&Zaun. Its the weakest faction overall so I don’t recommend it, but you can play cool control decks that are still viable that focus on OTKs with Ezreal or just spewing massive value with Heimerdinger. Personally I havent played these decks because I just dont have the resources to make those champs
