nazarin (1959, luis buñuel) An unusually compassionate priest in a Mexican village is sent into exile after parishioners frame him. Buñuel is tersely critical of his compatriots here and the moral dialectics are front and center. "The story" is always of little to no importance in his films. One of the heralded members of the early 20th Century Surrealist Group, Buñuel came from a school of art whose aim was to provocate. Great looking print. |

the impressionists and the man who made them (2015, phil grasby) It recounts the efforts of art collector, Paul Durand-Ruel, in acquiring and selling the leading painters of the so-called Impressionist Period. Grasby's at/history films usually have an intriguing angle. This one's no exception. |

the killer elite (1975, sam peckinpah) The original version by one of my favorite filmmakers, though many claim it's one of Peckinpah's lesser efforts. Prime form for James Caan as a mercenary shot by his partner, Robert Duvall, and out for revenge. Worth a once over. |

the night of the hunter (1955, charles laughton) Just added today. Robert Mitchum is scary as ever as the deranged, homicidal preacher. |

The Planet of the Apes Franchise on YouTube I spotted the first three installments (anyway) streaming free on the channel. Looks like they're repeating what they did with the Godzilla movies. Love it. Will definitely watch them in order. Glad I kept my Premium subscription (no ads, though my roomate swears a simple adblocker does the trick - I doubt it). |

I don't care how old you are. You are the platonic ideal of a boomer.
