Isn’t Terekhova just amazing? The scene at the printing house, where she gets paranoid over a typo is one of my all time faves. When her colleague suddenly explodes at her after they all escape a brush with death (people were executed left and right for this kind of thing under Stalin) and accuses her of ruining her marriage by trying to be an “emancipated woman” is an amazing snapshot of the FEAR that was the defining emotion of those years. Her colleagues tell her that she looks like a scarecrow cause she ran in wet from the rain, when she’s looking probably as beautiful as anyone ever has, that’s a real “source for this claim?” moment...

I love it so much when non-Russians love that film.

The greatest ever movie is on yt but it's got hardcoded Spanish subtitles so the English ones are above them and I suppose that's whack. Funny I should look it up and find this video when I remember there was in fact a better quality version



Not the case with this one though fortunately

I already forgot the nightmare when I first mentioned it (I looked it up, it's in the dreams thread) so there no more information to be found there, unfortunately. I remember the images of the waving bedsheets in the house having something to do with it or something. The scenes with the mother I also remember (who wouldn't?). It's been quite a long time since I've seen it though, I should rewatch it
