I second that. I'd like to see what you think about it. They're a Toronto based band so there's some pride there : P

For Alfred:

Genghis Tron - Board Up The House (2008)

'Cyber Grind' was the genre tag I found most often about this album but to be perfectly honest, I was expecting something far more brutal. Whilst the elements are there for what I like in a lot of music - Blast beats, thumping electro bass lines and smatterings of guitars it somehow did'ny blow me away as I wanted it too.

I found it all a little too polished and thought out for my liking. I would have much preferred it to be more haphazard and raw. Whilst it definitely was'nt unlistenable and there are sections I like, I just found it pales in comparison to a band such as Mad Capsule Markets who are similar. 6/10

About the whole grindcore thing, I find their debut to be more grindy, and I find this to be more electronic metalcore, with a touch of grind.

CiSTm K0nFLiqT is the only album I have by MCM and it is even more way out than that track. I want to get hold of that track myself. For earlier examples you could try Atari Teenage Riot but they have dated a little

I have to say i personally dont see the Mad Capsule Markets comparison, theyre rooted in jungle and trance whereas Genghis Tron emerged from a Grindcore influence... they both use stinging, head splitting beats but go about what they do from different angles. I like Board Up The House, i prefer Dead Mountain Mouth but its by no means a weak album.

A review of Collections by Kodan Armada would be interesting.

Yeah MCM definitely hit it at a different angle and that juxtaposition is more appealling to me personally. I guess Agraphobic Nosebleed negate most Cyber Grind as they are so good

I havent heard as much MCM as i have Genghis Tron but judging from what ive heard i like what they do, Its quite an effective hybrid, The Panacea is another one who does it well... although he is more in the realms of drum & bass and digital hardcore.

For kirby:

Tech N9ne - Killer (2008)

OK This one was from Kirby and I have read that it was one of his favourite albums of this year...sorry but I pretty damn hated it

I like hip hop/rap :http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...tml#post545778 but this album to me is barely a step up from the chart dominated stuff that I hear including many of the drum lines they use. Lyrically it is a lot better and does'nt resort to cliche but one or two tracks aside, I can't see me listening to it again. 3.5/10

That cover is pretty hideous.
