So what's with the recent rise in autotune in hip hop anyway? A lot of the artists don't seem to know that you actually have to be able to sing in order for it to sound good (I'm looking at you Lil Wayne). You see, I was a fan of autotune before this recent trend. It's a pretty cool program that can simply gloss over your vocals, and just make everything sound smoother. But these clowns who want to sing make it sound terrible.

What I'm listening to right now- Opeth- Moonlapse Vertigo

Opeth has tagged themselves as a progressive death metal band, and I believe that is fairly accurate to what they are. They play songs in the 10-15 minute range, all the time playing with song structures and jumping between crushing death metal and scandinavian accoustic folk music. As of late they have also been showing their prog rock roots too. They are one of my favorite bands out right now because there is no other band that sounds similar to them, and vocalist Mikael has the best death growls I've heard. On top of that, a good clean vocal sound as well.

First I would like to say that yes, this journal is extremely eclectic, being part musical journal, and part real journal, but I think it works just fine for that.

I have a job interview today, that I hope goes well, as I need a new job pretty bad. My current job gives me one shift a week. Where that is better than no work whatsoever, I've got needs and bills to pay that simply will not be satisfied by that little work and money. It will be at a gas station. Wish me luck.

Well, it's been forever since I've posted in here so for another little blathering.

What band i am listening to- Centhron

Centhron is an EBM/Industrial band with harsh, screamed vocals. The replies i got in the thread I made about Psyclon Nine dictate that people on this site aren't fans of that kind of thing. However, this one is pretty good, with a fairly consistent sound. The songs that stick out are very good, but from they do make songs that sound like covers of others. In my opinion, Psyclon Nine is worlds ahead of these guys, but they are good.

link for anyone interested in Centhron.

and, update on my life: I got a new job at a Gas Station which gives me above minimum wage and great hours, which means I'll have money yet. Not entirely sure how often people read this, but it feels great just to go on and on about things on here nonetheless.
