I’m writing my thoughts first impression while listening

Fader first track 27 minutes by Beatloads

Before clicking play I’m thinking let this be decent because 27 minutes

Starts off ambient - some kind of wave keyboard sound and someone hitting the body of an electric guitar and flipping the toggle switch- nice interplay of sounds interesting and appealing atmospherics

The structure of this reminds me of an elm tree

Has an organic quality to it

https://treecouncil.ie/wp-content/up...05/wychelm.jpg

Sort of the musical equivalent of hanging out with this tree

Diving deeper into the avant-garde now

I’m not sure how much of this is guitar

Sort of like if Stian Westerhus were to unpack and reveal his moves more slowly

Yes really into this now / solid foundation and interesting directions or branches (elm-like)

21 minutes in I enthusiastically approve of this track. Seems more mechanical than organic now. A robotic tree perhaps. Love the patient guitar work. No rush. Very modest in terms of ego. This is music that put esthetics first. The way it should be.

Alright it’s winding down. Seems like it could go on. Ha like the percussion at the end.

Excellent strong opener.

Frownland 01-30-2019 07:49 PM

Nice.

No guitar on that track, just synths, a launchpad recording the synths sound, and drums.

OH for president of the lesbians. I'd pay to see an anime series where you battle Jordan Peterson

The Batlord 01-31-2019 03:09 PM

Oh would probably just end up boiling a lobster and claiming to have defeated Peterson's entire argument while smothering his kill in butter and arguing for the death of the rich.

You’re not only the most improved poster; you’re making a play to go from worst to first.

I have noticed how Mord and OH have gone from bitter enemies to besties.

These are different releases of the same record. The one on Spotify is Mo’Joe.

Straightforward hard bop performed by damn good musicians you probably never heard of. It’s a really good jazz record. Recorded in 68. Released in 71. What else can I say?

This has to be the most bizarre album cover for a classical recording I’ve even seen.

Quote:

Anthony de Mare / "Wizards and Wildmen" (CRI 837) This recording includes piano works by Henry Cowell and Lou Harrison. It also includes the following works by Charles Ives:

"The Alcotts" movement (complete) from Piano Sonata No. 2, "Concord"
Three Improvisations
Study No. 22
The Celestial Railroad
Anthony de Mare's recording contain's four works by Charles Ives, and they are all very fine performances. But what makes this disc most compelling is the chance to hear Ives' works along with the piano music of two of his closest musical friends and advocates, Henry Cowell and Lou Harrison. As such, this disc provides an excellent background andcontext for Ives' piano works. The recorded sound is excellent, and the liner notes by Bob Gilmore are particularly effective at explaining the relationships between these men and their works.
