Saw those three live a few years ago. One of the best concerts I've ever been to.

Here’s a jazz curiosity that if anyone knows any thing about please fill me the **** in
In 1965 Lee Morgan went into the legendary Van Gelder Studio with Reggie Workman, who was already featured on three Coltrane records and five Art Blakey records, and Billy Higgins, who had all of Ornette’s early classics on his resume. They record an excellent hard bop album of new material but Blue Note decides not to release it until 1981. Infinity - Lee Morgan In 81 it had this cool as **** artwork: ![]() Then it goes out of print, probably because hard bop was hardly still in style, which is probably why they designed the cover to look like a fusion record. Then it’s not released on CD until 98 (as goddamn limited edition) with this cover: ![]() WTF Blue Note? Thankfully, it’s on Spotify now.

I'm actually listening to a lot of hard bop right now as I'm trying to do a project on my favorite albums of each year. So far, I'm partial to Coltrane and Sonny Rollins (I'm only up to 1958 so far). In fact, give Sonny Rollins' Way Out West a spin. The title track is cool as cucumbers.

If it was recorded in 1965, maybe Morgan didn't want it to be released and the rest can be pinned on changing management.

Maybe. If you can find a link or a source I’d honestly like to know.

Looking at Blue Note's history, both releases were done during different rerelease series so that's why I was thinking that it was different execs heading up different projects.
