Oh ****

One last question, how could I forget?

Do you have any upcoming shows planned? And the obligatory is there anything else you’d like to say?

Mondo Bungle 06-20-2018 03:43 PM

that'd be pretty impressive if I could play this live. but nah.

I'd like to say it's the most efficient Zon album cuz the others are riddled with clumsiness but this one bangs

OccultHawk 06-20-2018 03:48 PM

ok

That wraps up the interview, thanks.

Back to regular programming.

Hey, Occult. Next time you do an interview, it might be easier to send the interviewee a list of questions you'd want to ask him. The advantage of doing it question by question like you did is good because it's easier to do follow ups but you're also basically playing phone tag so to speak and it gets muddled with other posts. Good interview though.

Thanks for the input RS

ok my ocd is insisting I get back to 2016 but my add is insisting I do a listening guide to jazz appreciation

this is not a top 50 list nor is it chronological

It’s a list of great records in the order I think you should listen to them in order to foster your love for jazz

the first six are easy basic picks all with volumes of info easily googled

A beginner's guide is a lot less intimidating to take on than a top 50. Looking forward to ones I might not have heard.

I haven't heard Maiden Voyage so I'll have to give that a spin. I did like Hancock's Takin' Off

My entire top 10 would be all Coltrane

If we wanted to make a top 50 we’d need to create some kind of system and criteria and then we’d probably just end up with a list like many others

I don’t even know who “we” are

I’d want Neap involved for sure

It’s a very safe bet. You’ll like it.

The next one is a little trickier because it’s 4 tracks that were released on 78

Now they’re available on The Complete Savoy Studio Sessions - Charlie Parker

What I have, I bought it on cassette when I was in college, is the finished master takes from Parker’s Savoy years. Anyway, the collections these tracks are available on are too long. Like over 3 hours. So courtesy of youtube it’s the Tiny Grimes Quartet playing with Charlie Parker
