yeah so it's hard to say this or that stands out in drone ambient anymore
as long as it fits a certain formula it's all good it's a huge genre Bottomless I figure with dark ambient or any drone in general I'm looking for textural backdrops that cause a little extra unease but at the same time drags you in unabruptly like you're strolling through the forest and then it's like uh oh I'm lost Sit down for a toke and it's getting dark. https://plurals-drone.bandcamp.com/a...n-pumping-soil The band is Plurals https://f4.bcbits.com/img/0009124719_10.jpg |

I'd like to interview you about the album Andaman on this journal. Would you be willing to field a few question? |
Sure.
|
Is every song one track of solo guitar?
|
Yep. Ande incorporates a cymbal on top of the strings as well. Little bit of trimming on the longer tracks.
|
The first track sounds like it might be an acoustic guitar but I'm not sure...
What guitars did you use? |

You're right. Ianthe and Kerensa are both on my Applause, the first guitar I ever had. It plays like butter now.
Ande and Mulftur were played on my trusty Ibanez. Been with me since the beginning as well. I used a Peavey Classic Chorus amp. Attachment 6323 Attachment 6325 Attachment 6326 |
It feels to me like your playing on this record is quite distant from John Fahey who strikes me as your most obvious influence on your earlier recordings. I don't want to pigeonhole your sound by quoting influences but I can't but think of Stian Westerhus and especially on Mulfter it reminds me of Derek Bailey. Am I on track or am just pulling the names of guitarists out of my ass? Please, keep in mind I don't think you're borrowing too heavily from anyone's sound. If I'm off base who if anyone influences your guitar playing (especially on this record)?
|
Bailey is most certainly a huge influence on my guitar playing. I'm not really sure hiw much Westerhus has influenced me tbh. That might be for the better. I would say that Richard Dawson, Marc Ribot, Jandek, and Keiji Haino are mainstays as my guitar influence. At the time of the album I was listening to Birds of Fire a lot so McClaughlin was driving me a bit on the electric tracks.

Just for the sake of referencing I'm pretty sure autocorrect ****ed up Marc Ribot's name for you. Am I correct in saying I hear more that in Wolves in Sheepskin?
