This is the kind of glossy production non-Coltranian jazz I typically shy away from but the easy going vibes and undeniably skillful musicianship has won me over. I’ve spent so much of the last 10 months listening to harsh jazz that maybe I needed this. It’s like when you stumble on something that turns out to be a lot better than expected. Like a fat girl who works it and you get all comfortable together in a waterbed in a cabin in Maine with a fireplace. Grunt.
