![]() ![]() Il Studio album by Jean-Michel Blais https://jeanmichelblais.bandcamp.com...deluxe-edition Blais takes simple melodic structure and runs with it until it washes over you like rain. The pieces get bigger and more cascading but he never stretches so far into minimalism or really anything experimental enough to push the boundaries past the comfort level of the initial theme. While it may be a conservative approach it also speaks to discipline and to the truth that this is a mature composer who’s comfortable in his musical skin. If you got some space in your music listening world for some more solo piano I suspect you’ll be rewarded if you give this a spin and careful listen.
