There are similar offerings from Ruger, SCCY, ATI and Diamondback, but, for the money, nothing is going to beat a brand new Hi-Point. With a lifetime warranty and a +P rating, they are all you need to get by on the cheap. But if you prefer to go the used route, see if you can find a pre-owned .357 Magnum revolver that is in good condition.

Think I might add to the "Protecting Yourself On The Cheap" posts with things other than firearms, like best knives, pepper spray, tasers, knucks,etc.? Whatcha think?

Well, no matter what I write about, it will get shit on, so I may as well just stay in my wheelhouse. Maybe I will talk about the hollow Earth or extraterrestrials or the secret space program. If I can find something that others are interested in as well, then it makes it funner and facilitates positive interaction.

If you can connect brass knuckles if not probably pepper spray.

Against non-humans I think a knife.
