My only weird one also has a double groove--the A side of Renaldo and the Loaf's Songs for Swinging Larvae is a loop of them saying "boom boom crash crash", which is also what kicks off the B side.

For the unintentionally weird, I have an Anakrid record that's warped that I think sounds pretty cool with the needle coming off and back onto the record.

Yeah, "Record Without a Cover." I bought at least two copies directly from him in Chicago around '86.
One clean copy and another copy that I scratched up by walking down Clark St. while mostly rubbing it
up against the sides of buildings (there were occasional "rubbings" on sidewalks as well).
Then, I would play it in-store for customers. When it wasn't "in use," it would be mounted on the wall
as a clock with numbers stuck on it. I remember a guy named Clay Grossman who insisted that he find
something to wrap the album in. He was so paranoid that he was going to ruin it.

Oh, yeah! ...and a fun one too!
I had graduated to CD 💿 live performance alterations by that time.
It was amazing what you could do with colored markers.

Déficit des années antérieures - Bacterial Voice Epidemia / E.B.V.

France
1980
Experimental

Thoughts: Have you ever had someone stand there and scream at you with all his might, desperately trying to tell you something? I mean, weeping and praying, and you know he's got something really important to say--it's vital that you understand!--but you can't understand a word hes saying? The pounding drums and the relentless reverb are chasing him down the well of his own vocals. Wait...is that German?

Release info: Released on vinyl in 1980 (Illusion / IP 004, France).

California Roll

My friend came over today and brought with him one of his recent songs. It's a short, simple synth-driven song about all the different kinds of sandwiches. During his visit, we talked about gaming and music, and as far as our music topics went, I introduced him to the concept of the anti-record. Since he was fascinated by the idea, I asked him if I could turn his song into an anti-song. He gave me permission, so I opened the file in Audacity and grabbed a d20, rolling the die to randomly select effects to be applied. I also used the d20 and percentile dice to randomly assign values to variable fields.

This is what we came up with. The vocals kick in halfway through.

Le Forte Four - Bikini Tennis Shoes

USA
1975
Free Improvisation, Sound Collage

Thoughts: As founders of LAFMS, these guys and gals put the "free" in free music. Most of this album is composed of fuckaround tracks that are less than a minute, mostly involving snippets of conversation or melody. There's even some belching.

Release info: Released on limited edition vinyl of 200 copies with hand-pasted front and back cover in 1975 (LAFMS / LAFMS 1, USA), then re-issued on numbered edition vinyl again in 2017 (États-Unis / etat04, USA).
