This could make a great fiction character

I've just reconnected with my friend from elementary school

And I must tell you:

It feels good

I'm watching the first episode of the show "Maniac", and I really enjoy it.

Not for the plot or anything like that particularly, but for the style of world building.
When you begin to watch the thing, it seems like it's happening today, but then you start to see, notice the little things that seem "out of this time period". And after 15-20 minutes you realise it's a near distant future, but a one that has won one side some super otherworldly stuff going on, and some vintage/80s/90s technology elements.

And then when you think of it: you don't actually know what parts of the shown world are real and what aren't because the character you follow is an schizophreniac.
Perfect world building/experience building.

Though I'm not sure it will lead to anything as good.

Though, if I might add, the scene between Owen and his father is acted really spot on. With attention to the little details of how a (business/not that into emotions and psychology) father would act towards his schizophrenic son would act.

And how the son sees that, but decides to ignore it

Do you think "Joane Mallory" is a good name for a fictional character?

("Joanne" is misspelled on purpose, in order to read it more like "John" – just with that feminine "e" at the end)

[Also: how come Pastis is not the most popular alcohol out there?

It's not like anise is a some hard to find plant.

I mean, I know it's quite disgusting for most human beings; but certainly not more than Vodka or Whiskey (and certainly not as disgusting as gin-tonic).

And the idea/style/way/culture (the south, the heat, the ice, the water, the drink that never ends) should by itself be enough to make people want to drink it.

But no.
It's reserved to the south of Europe (Italy/France/Spain).
How come this marvellous drink hadn't spread across the world?

I second that, pastis is great

Oh, God, I thought I was alone in this

In two or three days my drummer will arrive at where I'm at (Sete), and he'd never drunk it, so we'll see.
But on the other hand, the guitarist of the band – Szelest – had always hated the drink.

This post is about the 1st episode of the series:

How many times have I had the feeling that the main character of "Maniac" has at 27:30 – up ? A lot? "A lot is not enough".

NO!
It's too much!

Like: He feels there's this person – that is just passing through – and he knows, they could have an amazing relationship with each other; but he doesn't do anything [life is hard] –

- Why didn't I take the chance?
- No idea. Why didn't you?
- I have no idea.
