I try to see what someone sounds like live first, so I looked around on youtube

if a band can't sound good live than I don't find em worth my time really (though thats not completely true I make exceptions very often when a album version is really really good)

How was you listening to him before?!
Albums are the only way to listen to music for me.
But yeah, I'm glad you like it.

I sorta have decided that all music is a acquired taste, I mean Tom Waits was a very iffy subject for me till I heard some of his early music and then I took it from there, its been the same for all these artists and music I have heard before (doesn't matter what genre) if I hear it again I automatically like it at least to some degree so going back to his music probably just made it click with me, i still wish he'd keep the mario sounds out and focus on the beautiful guitar work but I'm gonna listen to all of his album and really get a feel for his work starting tomorrow since I'll have alot of time to do so

    Ah, great news!
    I knew you'd like it.
Some things just take a little more time than others, The Complete Guide to Insufficiency is quite atmospheric since it was recorded in one take in a church in Leeds so it all flows together quite nicely. A nice Avant-Folk album. I haven't heard it in a while, I may have to give it a listen later.

back when i first joined you recommended David Thomas Broughton and I sorta dismissed it. I have taken time to listen to him yet again it seems that after spending a couple months listening to nothing but Nick Cave, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, and Gogol Bordello I've finally opened up to this guys music its still not something I'm super crazy over like I am other things but yea I like it now

just givin you props for recommending it
