I usually end up finding different artists I like. The guy responsible for my current avatar, for example, is pretty neat. He did a whole series of similar photos with scotch tape: Scotch Tape Series | Naman Photography

My last one came from this guy, who's a totally amazing illustrator: Juan Carlos Paz -BAKEA- on Behance

Oh hah. I do the same. You look for interesting distorted kind of art though. What artist do you like or is it more just individual pieces?

Heh. I don't really know. I spend a decent amount of time online looking for art that I find inspiring for design work and whatnot. The things I like a lot that I think would make good avatars, I make my avatar.

Oh wow Gravissima is a gem. I thought Pivixki were from the Melbourne music scene... Good if you wanna cruise around something unusual, it's there. Combat Austronomy are pretty wicked, I do like Jazz with a doom/dark feel. :)

As far as experimental hip hop goes have you heard K-the-I? He has a pretty unique, chaotic approach that I like. Definitely one of the most experimental rappers I've ever heard.

In terms of other stuff, Pivixki is a great group I've gotten a couple other MBers into. They're just drums and keys but they sound like absolutely nobody else. Plus, they're local for you. I'd recommend their album Gravissima in particular). :)

Another band you might dig too is Combat Astronomy, who basically sound like crazy, John Zorn style jazz mixed with drone doom.
