Newcomers!!: Read This Before You Post Anything In The 'Name That Tune' Forum

Some things you need to know if you want to use the 'Name That Tune' Forum.

1. We are not a professional music finding service. Any answers you get are done from the goodness of our own hearts.

2. Please do not bitch, moan, whine, complain, continuously bump your thread when you don't get an answer, like I said we're not some music finding service.

MOST IMPORTANT
3. You do not need to make 16 posts to embed a youtube video. You simply post the video code into youtube tags like this...

http://i539.photobucket.com/albums/f...psgcbzmk2y.jpg

4. If you however have not read this and attempt to spam the forum to get 16 posts both your post and your account will be deleted.

5. Posting split up links in an attempt to get past the 16 posts rule will also be deleted as it clearly shows you've not read this thread before posting.

6. Arguing with us about it will get you the same treatment.

7. If you want our help here respect our forum rules.

8. We have the right to remove your post for not following these rules or for any other reason we see fit.

Also, for the love of god please try to describe how the song you're looking for sounds not just what the video is like. Someone with the answer to your question may know the song but may never have seen the video.

And may I add, as much pertinent info as possible. Describe the genre, roughly, of the song, the year or thereabouts, what you think it might be or might not be, whether it was a male or female singer, if it was in the charts/on the radio and anything else that might help.

THIS is a post likely to get some assistance:

"I'm looking for this 80s metal song, think it was glam or hair metal, lyrics refer to some kind of cowboy BUT it's not "Wanted dead or alive" by Bon Jovi, though it may be them. Slow start then it builds up, great guitar solo. Male singer."

THIS is not:
"Hi guys lookin for a metal song I used to hear on the radio back in the 80s. Been looking for years. Any help blah blah blah."

As Urban says, we're not doing this professionally and while people will be happy to help you they're not going to spend their time hunting down a song with the vaguest of information, most likely in fairness for someone who will never post in the forum again, perhaps not even to say thanks when the song has been found (personal experience here).

So if you want us to help, help us to help you.

Just joined and looked around. Didn't see an option for a sample upload, did I miss it or will one be available soon?

Tanny

What do you mean by a sample upload?

Carpe Mortem 05-17-2014 01:32 PM

Probably means how to upload a mystery song from a burned cd?

@TannyLee make a soundcloud, upload whatever sample you need to that. Then post the link.

I'm in the same boat. I do not have a YouTube video for this song, as it's from a radio aircheck. On other forums, I was able to either link to the Real Media file on line, or else upload an MP3 snippet of the aircheck that I created. So I can relate to what the other member is saying.

Is there another method of sharing the audio?
:)

Cheers,
Jody Thornton

I believe they're talking about the lack of having a way to add an attachment for things other than ASCII or image files.
