I came across this video 6-7 years ago and have always wondered what it was. My curiosity is freshly--and bitterly--renewed whenever the song, which I extracted from the video and named "Unknown," comes up on my shuffle. It starts at the 0:24 mark:

For those who were curious: another forum was able to identify it. The song is Battle #5 from SaGa Frontier, specifically an arrangement by a Japanese doujin artist named morio (sometimes called masterpiece).
