Default Default Canadian female singer rock song 90s-2000s identify? (hard one) please help

i remember from my trip to canada iv heard this song from a female candian rock singer, kind of rock ballad song., the only lyrics i remember from it is: "...living the american dream..."

i know its not a lot but hope som1 can help thanks!

Perhaps Alanis Morissette is the default Canadian female singer. It seemed like she was at one time, that's for sure.

thanks, but i was not alanis morissette, this singer was more rock less pop...

hey that neco case is quite similar to that singer i wanted, alternative country rock, ballads and all that...

i remember she was white kind of country looking like in the album cover...
