So are you familiar with Matteo Carcassi or Mauro Giuliani?

It sounds very familiar to me. Tárrega, perhaps?
![]() In that case, it could be from Albéniz or Granados, for instance.

It could be anyone really. I was thinking that the song isn't too advance. And since he plays more Jazz than Classical, it could something easy he learned. Usually guitar players remember what they first learn. Fernando Sor is another good possibility. He is known for composing "Studies" for guitar.

^Don't think it's that
Had heard of Carcassi not Giuliani. I listened to some of there stuff like preludes and sonatas, didn't come across anything too similar. I thought it was Villa Lobos, I've listened to some Albeniz and a little Granados, have to give Tárrega a listen. |

How about Romance d'Amour, is the ending to the first part similar enough? If it doesn't sound identical he could be using a variation on the right hand picking technique. They both end on E minor. And it's a tune beginners to intermediates learn. I thought even though he's a very advance Jazz guitar player, he might only have acquaintance with the Classical repertoire, and would pull something from memory that was easy to play to illustrate his point. Romance d'Amour is a song everyone learns, or was at one time.
